This company is done
The owner had all automated and was responding to support and sales tickets, but it seems that he must have passed away during the pandemic since nobody answers anymore.
There's a step when renewing the domains that needs to be done manually and they are gone, so domains expired. It took me some work and some data lost to get my domain out of this hosting company, but I made it.
Signing up is also automated and everything is automatically done for you, but nobody is on control anymore. The company used to be very good, now is dead.
We've been using them as our domain registrar for over 10 years. A few months ago, they charged me for a domain renewal but they somehow let my domain expire. I, of course, reached out many many times about this and have never heard back from them. I even reached out to the sales team pretending I was a new customer interested in services and didn't hear back. Good thing the domain that they let expire was only used for redirection!! Complete garbage company.
We've had our site with them since 2003 and recommended 2 doz others. The past 3 years of our 17 years with them have been HORRIBLE. Their server melted down twice and lost our sites - and the backups. Their customer service is literally NON-EXISTENT now if you need help. We used to refer everyone but at this stage they are simply terrible, which is sad given how long they were so good. Not even worth a star if you won't help 17 yr customers that ask for help every 2 years.
I've been with DowntownHost for about 5 years now, and was happy with their quick replies to infrequent support requests. I got help whenever I needed it. Recently though I downgraded our service plan with them and ended up paying about $50 too much. I've opened several support tickets over months about getting this addressed, but I receive no response at all from them. I'll be looking for a different host.
