Overview

WebMonster Overview1

WebMonster provides shared hosting and maintenance services. As such, large organizations and websites that need VPS and dedicated servers will have to look elsewhere. Its office is located in Spain, but it has a data center in the Netherlands. Its website is available in Spanish.

Features and Ease of Use

On the WebMonster website, plans are listed as SSD hosting, WordPress hosting, and WooCommerce hosting, all on shared servers. A quick look indicates that they are the same plans, only compatible with those CMS. The features on them include:

  • 99.9% uptime guarantee
  • Free SSL certificate
  • Daily automatic backups
  • From 10GB to 30GB disk space
  • Unlimited bandwidth
  • Add-on domains

The vendor uses the CloudLinux operating system, which isolates users into a virtualized environment. This has lots of security and performance benefits. There is also Litespeed web server and LSCache, which are features of these plans. If you are particular about speed for delivery of your website content, you’ll find these tools useful. Plus, it uses SSDs.

It offers MySQL databases with remote access and phpMyAdmin access. For programming languages, there’s Python, Ruby, Perl, and selectable versions of PHP.

The company provides cPanel to enable you to control and manage your hosting account. Tools like Softaculous can be found in the control panel, which will help you install several applications like WordPress, Joomla, and WooCommerce. WebMonster’s shared plans are very much compatible with these scripts. It even offers a special maintenance service for WordPress and WooCommerce websites.

Another tool is Cron. With it, you can set up cron jobs to automatically run at different intervals, such as backups. Also, there’s a free Lets Encrypt SSL certificate that can be easily set up from the control panel.

WebMonster provides a range of security features, including a network firewall and a web application firewall (WAF), along with capabilities such as brute force prevention, scanning for malware and viruses, utilization of CageFS from CloudLinux, integration of BitNinja server security, leech protection, and incorporation of SpamAssassin.

Pricing and Support

For shared hosting, WebMonster’s prices are very good and competitive. Users can make payments monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually, biennially, and triennially. There’s no free trial or a free plan, so you’ll have to commit money to find out if the service is right for you.

WebMonster’s billing methods are PayPal, wire transfer, and credit card. It does offer a 45-day money-back guarantee just in case a client is not satisfied with its service. One gripe, though, is that when you start growing, you’ll have to migrate because of the lack of VPS and dedicated servers.

Support is available through a knowledge base with tutorials, frequently asked questions, and tickets. I created a ticket and got a reply shortly after.
