Web.ro is a web hosting arm of Romanian company Nav Communications. In its 22-year history, it has hosted more than 8,500 domains, and it has its own data center in Romania.
Although this vendor’s website is available in English as well as its native Romanian, the English translation isn’t complete on all pages.
Features and Ease of Use
Web.ro offers four shared hosting plans suitable for those who need high storage space. Shared hosting customers enjoy the following features:
- 99.9% uptime SLA
- Either 100 GB SSD or unlimited SSD
- Free Let’s Encrypt or Comodo SSL certificate
- Free .ro domain on the top plan
- Daily automated backups
Web.ro’s shared hosting is provisioned on cloud infrastructure for maximum performance, and it uses the CloudLinux operating system that virtualizes and isolates shared hosting clients so that they don’t clash.
The higher the plan you choose, the more processing power you have at your disposal. The Enterprise plan provides a 4 GHz CPU with 4 GB RAM whereas customers on the lower plans get only half that amount. On the Extreme plan, you get an even higher 6 GHz CPU and 12 GB RAM. This is a little unusual since most hosting companies offer the same processing power across all shared hosting plans.
There is no website builder, so you’ll have to know HTML (or find someone who does) to create your site. Alternatively, you can use the Softaculous one-click installer (from within the cPanel control panel) to install a CMS such as WordPress, Magento, Prestashop, or Joomla!
Pricing and Support
Web.ro’s shared hosting prices are low; in some cases half the price of its competitors for similar resources and features. It also includes a free SSL certificate and free website migration from your old host.
Although a free trial is not offered, you have the flexibility of monthly payments, and if anything goes wrong within the first two weeks, the 14-day money-back guarantee ensures you can exit the service without major consequences.
Unfortunately, there is no public knowledge base at Web.ro, so you’ll have to Google for answers or contact the customer support team. The contact channels include telephone, ticket, and email. My exploratory email received a reply after 12 hours:
