VideoWhisper started in 2008 with the simple idea of developing video communications software using the latest technology and providing it to webmasters with small-to-medium sized websites. It boasts about having 80,000 registered user accounts.
Although VideoWhisper is based in Romania, it uses hosting partners with servers in the U.S.A, and its website is in English by default.
Features and Ease of Use
VideoWhisper provides plenty of features and tools; some of the notable ones are:
- P2P streaming support
- 100% web-based video communication
- Acoustic echo cancellation
- H264 video codec
- 24/7 customer support
- cPanel control panel
- Dedicated IP address
- Wowza Streaming Engine
For a video streaming host, I was slightly (but pleasantly) surprised to see the trusty cPanel control panel provided to manage your hosting, plus the equally familiar Softaculous installer. Setting up the license and integrating video streaming should be super-fast, and there are many guides to help you if you get stuck.
If you have ever run a video streaming service, you will understand the importance of having a great internet connection. This is why VideoWhisper has superfast network connectivity with 1,000 Mbps (compared to the more usual 100 Mbps). Video streaming also uses the Wowza Streaming Engine with multiple video delivery options.
The biggest issue I encountered with this host was trying to navigate through their overwhelming website to find the information I needed. However, once I got past that hurdle, everything became much easier.
Pricing and Support
We all love freebies, don’t we? VideoWhisper offers a free mode license with any of its products, but they come with limitations and embedded adverts. The paid licenses (for one domain) provide an almost endless array of features and customizations at reasonable prices.
As an online business that serves worldwide customers in multiple timezones, VideoWhisper says that it prefers to communicate 24/7 via tickets and email. There is no telephone number as far as I know, which may be because this vendor has no physical offices.
Since I wasn’t sure which package may be suitable for hosting my WordPress website, I submitted a ticket to find out. Although the support staff didn’t really answer my question, I was pleased to have received a rapid response within minutes:
