Features and Ease of Use
Ukrnames has a good range of web hosting products including regular shared hosting, SSD hosting, OpenVZ VPS, KVM VDS, and dedicated servers. Some of its key shared hosting features include:
- Free domain registration with most plans
- Unlimited traffic
- Unlimited MySQL databases
- cPanel and ISPmanager
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- One-click installer with 200+ integrations
- Regular backups
In 2012, Ukrnames established one of the largest data centers in Kharkiv, featuring high internet connectivity, hydro-thermo-dust insulation, separate power lines, and 24/7 monitoring. This enabled the company to guarantee its customers secure and stable hosting with 99.9% network uptime. Ukrnames also has servers in the United States, Germany, and France (Strasbourg).
Ukrnames offers a free cPanel (available in Russian) and website builder with its hosting plans. You’ll also have access to many web applications through the one-click installer, which is great added value for beginners. Advanced users will also be pleased to see support for cURL, SSI, and CGI scripts.
You’ll have a few other goodies as well. For instance, if you already own a domain, Ukrnames will give you one month of free hosting. If you don’t already have a domain name, you get one free domain registration when you sign up for one of the company’s annual hosting plans.
On the downside, although Ukrnames allows you to install an SSL certificate without purchasing a dedicated IP address, you’ll have to purchase the certificate separately.
Pricing and Support
Ukrnames offers three shared hosting packages: Site, Studio, and Corporate. You get the first month of hosting for free with the purchase of at least a one-year contract. However, if you want a free domain, this is only included with the Studio and Corporate packages.
As in most cases, the plans vary in disk space, number of websites, and few other features. When it comes to value for money, Ukrnames has reasonable prices considering the features you get and all the free services. One thing I don’t like, however, is the lack of transparency with the company’s refund policy: Ukrnames claims to have a money-back guarantee, but there’s very little information on the terms and conditions of this money-back guarantee.
Among the payment methods accepted by Ukrnames are credit cards, bank transfers/deposits, and Interkassa.
Lucky for me, the support section is one of Ukrnames’ strong points: the website has a very comprehensive knowledge base section and there are customer support hotlines for multiple regions around the world, including Kiev, Kharkiv, Moscow, the United States, the United Kingdom, Lithuania, Latvia, Kazakhstan, and Israel.
Customer support is available through various channels, including live chat, email, and support ticket. I decided to try out the live chat and while the support agent was responsive, they weren’t quite helpful enough as they couldn’t answer all of my questions. Additionally, we faced a slight language barrier during the conversation.
