TechnoBird has been providing Pakistani hosting (and other website services) since 2002. Run by a team of developers, this company has also built multiple websites which are currently in use in Pakistan. The website is available in English.
Features and Ease of Use
TechnoBird offers a selection of Windows and Linux plans, which come with the following standard features:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Domain registration available
- Up to 10GB disk space
- Up to 100GB data transfer
- 24/7 email support
There are seven tiers of Linux website hosting, which all include the same features with varying level of resources. The plans include MySQL 5.1, phpMyAdmin, PHP (only version 5.3.10 and not the twice as fast version 7), and control panel access. There’s also support for Python and Cron jobs to set up scheduled tasks.
Again, there are seven Windows plans, all with the same features, as well as Microsoft SQL databases, ASP.NET, .NET, Perl, Python, and Cron jobs. The Windows plans use Windows Server 2012.
The situation for beginners is less clear. Looking at the website, it doesn’t appear to offer a one-click installer (Fantastico or Softaculous) or website building tool. I’d like to have confirmed this with customer service, however, I didn’t receive a response when I requested further information.
All plans come with a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but there’s no SLA to back up the guarantee, which unfortunately is quite common with these kinds of companies.
Pricing and Support
There’s a huge swing in prices from the base package to the highest package, which is a little odd, because all of the features are the same (it’s just increasing resource quotas). That said, if you need less than 5GB of data transfer and 1GB of disk space, you’ll be able to take advantage of the cheapest (Linux) plan.
Unlike most shared hosting companies, you can’t purchase the hosting plans online. Instead, you need to contact the company to get set up. Maybe for Pakistan locals, this process is more common, but I’m not sure.
Customer support is 24/7 by email, and there are phone numbers advertised on the website. There’s no knowledge base or help desk on the website, so the support needs to be excellent. Sadly, I contacted them midday on a weekday by email and despite waiting two business days for a reply, I did not hear back.
