Smart Systems has been in business since 1999, making it a long-term player in the web hosting space. It currently serves over 5,000 customers. Shared, VPS, semi-dedicated, and dedicated plans are available with attractive features at a very reasonable cost. Smart Systems also offers data center and technology security services, and that additional in-house expertise shows in its state-of-art data center in Santiago, Chile. This is a company that delivers a solid service with a great deal of value.
Features and Ease of Use
Smart Systems offers shared, VPS, semi-dedicated, and dedicated hosting plans. All come with a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Beyond that, there are no extras thrown in: domain registration and SSL certificates come at additional costs.
You’ll note that Smart Systems only has Linux-based shared hosting plans; if you’re looking for Windows-based hosting, you’ll have to look elsewhere.
Here are a few of the features included in its shared hosting plans:
- Softaculous one-click installer
- Support for PHP 5.2 to 5.5
- CloudLinux OS
- Website builder
- Free SSL certificates
- MySQL databases
- Unlimited data transfer
Smart Systems also has a service known as “semi-dedicated” hosting, which is basically a cloud plan on a server with a very limited number of websites and customers. This theoretically provides more performance headroom at a lower cost than a dedicated plan.
While Smart Systems does not own its own data center, it’s partnered with GTD Teleductos as a wholesaler of hosting out of the latter’s Tier III data center in Santiago, Chile.
Pricing and Support
Smart Systems doesn’t offer the lowest prices for hosting, especially considering its focus on the Chilean market. However, in the global market, it falls on the more affordable side, and considering all the features it provides, it’s hard to find a better value for your money.
Phone and live chat support are available during local (Chilean) office hours only, but ticket support is always available. It has a knowledge base, though this will likely be unhelpful for DIY enthusiasts as it only contains a few articles.
Smart Systems also offers TeamViewer software for screen sharing to enable remote support.
