SHPV is a French hosting agency with data centers across the country. They’re focused mainly on providing VPS hosting, media storage, and VPN services to private users and businesses. The company also has shared cloud hosting services, although this seems more like a side service than a core offering. Their website is available in French and English, though the English version of their website is only partially translated from French.
Features and Ease of Use
When I first visited the company’s website, I found it a bit challenging to learn much about their products and services. While aesthetically pleasing, their website had scarcely any information on the details of certain services up front, and there was no live chat or any other easily-accessible way to find out more about what this company has to offer. This may be due to their newness in the hosting scene, given that they’ve also chosen not to readily advertise the year they were founded. However, eventually — after quite a bit of digging — I did find more details on their hosting packages.
Their all-inclusive shared hosting packages include unlimited bandwidth with dedicated storage, databases, and email accounts. You get HTTPS protection and excellent server speeds, along with an easy app installer that supports popular CMSes such as WordPress, Joomla!, and PrestaShop. Just like they did with their website, they have put in their best efforts to create a user interface that is visually appealing and user-friendly. However, this also implies that users with more technical expertise may need to dig a bit deeper to access advanced account features.
They have three VPS options available: a cloud-based VPS service, gamer-friendly virtual servers, and enterprise-scale cloud VPS. These VPS solutions feature redundant networks and solid anti-DDoS attack protection, so you’ll enjoy the high-availability, solid uptime ratings, and added security of your servers. As with most VPS providers, you get full root access to your virtual server and can restart, stop, or re-install any part of your server any time you’d like. Each VPS package features unlimited bandwidth; the main limitations are in upload and download speeds, available RAM, storage space, and CPU processing power.
There are plenty of third-party apps available for installation to increase the functionality of your website. On the other hand, the company offers no promises in terms of server or network uptime, which makes the whole deal less than trustworthy. Then again, they do have excellent hardware and redundant networks with top-notch maintenance teams on-site, which puts a person at ease up to a certain point.
Pricing and Support
Considering the current market averages, SHPV offers their services at competitive rates. However, do note that their plans don’t include a free domain registration of any sort, so you’ll have to factor that into your final calculations. As with most hosting providers, SHPV offers discounts for longer billing cycles — the longest you can select is an annual term, which could get you up to a 40% discount.
There’s no live chat support available, which I hope they’ll introduce soon because the website alone really only tells you half the story. That said, once you do get connected with one of their support staff, you’ll see that they’re pretty good people who know what they’re doing. There’s a phone number and email address you can reach them at, but if you’re calling from outside of France keep in mind that these are not international toll-free numbers.
