To compare the best web hosts, we hosted the same WordPress website on each one and tested performance, customer service, and value for money. Check out the results here.
Shock Hosting was founded in 2013. It currently has four data center locations in the USA and Europe, and its WHMCS-powered website is available in 27 languages, including English, German, Italian, French, and Chinese, for example.
Features and Ease of Use
Shock Hosting offers a range of hosting services, including shared hosting, VPS packages, reseller hosting, and dedicated servers. Its hosting plans come with the following core features:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free backups
- Domain registration
- Up to unlimited add-on domains
- SSL certificates
- Unlimited disk space and bandwidth
The cPanel control panel includes a one-click installer for than 300 programs, and I confirmed with customer service via live chat that you also get the SitePad website building tool. Automatic daily backups help protect you from a data disaster, and the industry-average 99.9% uptime guarantee is backed by compensation.
It’s also important to note that these plans come with unlimited resources. I’m referring to unlimited SSD storage (in RAID configuration), unlimited bandwidth, unlimited sub-domains, unlimited databases, and unlimited email accounts.
Pricing and Support
The plans are well priced, considering the high level of resources, top-quality infrastructure, and the number of features. You can purchase plans on terms ranging from one month to two years, with discounts for longer terms paid upfront. The seven-day money-back guarantee is a lot less than you get with other hosts and is not really long enough to fully assess the services.
You get a free SSL certificate with any hosting plan, but you have to purchase a domain.
Customer services can be contacted via ticket or live chat. While this is a little limiting, I was pleased with the expert rapid live chat response.
For self-support, there is an adequately (but not extensively) populated knowledge base.
How much does Shock Hosting cost?
Shock Hosting offers plans from $3 to $6. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which Shock Hosting plan should I get?
My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. Shock Hosting can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from Shock Hosting.
How good is Shock Hosting’s customer support?
Shock Hosting is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of Shock Hosting being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
