U.S.-based Servers World has a presence in 49 worldwide data centers and offers a range of managed web hosting services. It has an English language website, a dead Facebook link, and a very inactive Twitter feed.
Features and Ease of Use
Servers World sells dedicated servers, virtual servers, private cloud solutions, and colocation plans. Some of the features you can expect to benefit from when you purchase a dedicated server from Servers World are:
- 99.9% uptime
- 100% root access
- Choice of Windows or Linux operating system
- 49 worldwide data center locations
- Disk space dependent on dedicated server location
- Unlimited monthly bandwidth
- Backups at an additional cost
Servers World states it uses only Tier III data centers, which should mean less than 1.6 hours of downtime per year. The amount of disk space depends on your server location, but all dedicated servers come with unlimited bandwidth. Besides the usual U.K., U.S.A., Netherlands, and Australia locations, you can also choose to locate your server in a less obvious location like Slovenia or Albania.
Although Servers World offers a wide range of preset dedicated server packages, you can choose various customization options at the checkout. Besides being able to choose from 49 server locations, you can select one of the nineteen operating system and control panel combinations, and add extra RAM or DDoS protection. But beware that some servers were out of stock at the time of writing this review.
Servers World also offers VPS packages at 33 different locations, so you can choose the location closest to your website visitors. You can also choose from a range of operating systems (CentOS, Debian, and Fedora), coding scripts (Ruby or PHP), and CMS programs (such as WordPress or Drupal).
Pricing and Support
This provider’s VPS prices are low, but the dedicated server monthly prices are higher than I would expect. Plans are priced in U.S. dollars regardless of the location you choose, and there are no discounts for choosing a long billing cycle (e.g., three years) rather than the monthly billing.
While the website mentions weekly automatic backups for the VPS plans, you have to pay extra for dedicated server backups, but you can choose your backup schedule to be daily, weekly, or monthly.
Servers World’s contact channels are extensive enough. You can call a toll-free U.S. telephone number, initiate a live chat, or email the sales, support, or billing departments. I tested the live chat when it finally showed as available, and I was pleased with the replies I received to my queries.
You’ll be less lucky if you want to support yourself. The social media pages are either broken or embarrassingly inactive, and the knowledge base includes only four entries.
