Seeoux is a well-established Italian website hosting provider that started life in 1996 under a different name. Their servers are colocated in Italian, American and British data centers, and they also have offices in France, Spain, and Italy. Their website is available only in Italian unless translated by your browser, except for the support pages that can be switched between five different languages (or six if you count the two different versions of English).
Features and Ease of Use
Seeoux offers a range of website hosting plans including shared website hosting, semi-dedicated plans, server rentals, reseller hosting, and the relatively unusual radio hosting.
These are some of the features that are core to their shared hosting website plans:
- A guarantee of 99.9% uptime on average each month
- Daily automatic backups
- Domain registration available at additional cost
- Two or three add-on domains with the higher packages
- SSL certificates available at additional cost
- Between 5 GB and 20 GB disk space
- CentOS operating system
The base plans include a fairly generous 5 GB of disk space, unlimited traffic, and three MySQL databases. All packages come with a premium offering of RVSiteBuilder (including more than 800 pre-installed templates) and the Softaculous one-click installer for over 400 programs.
Although it isn’t mentioned on their main web pages, I noticed PHP referred to in their help center, so I contacted customer service to check. The good news is that they do support PHP 7.2. The not so good news, for advanced users, is that there is no support for advanced coding languages such as Ruby, Python or Javascript.
Seeoux has a global network of data centers, with servers colocated in Dallas, Rome, and Amsterdam. Although colocation may lead to slightly slower fault resolution and website load speeds compared to owned data centers, they ensure 24/7/365 monitoring for all their data centers and have a comprehensive uptime service level agreement in place.
Pricing and Support
While Seeoux is not the cheapest Italian provider, it’s definitely in line with international providers. And they offer good value for money when you consider the premium beginner-friendly tools, the network of data centers, and the generous resource levels. SSL certificates and domain registration cost extra, but all prices include VAT so the price you see is the price you pay.
Products can be purchased only on annual terms, but they do offer an amazing 60-day money-back guarantee that gives you a “get out” if you change your mind about this hosting provider.
24/7/365 customer support can be accessed by telephone, email and live chat. They also provide an extensive help center with video tutorials. Whenever I’ve contacted this company via live chat, they’ve always picked up promptly and helped me politely in English.
