To compare the best web hosts, we hosted the same WordPress website on each one and tested performance, customer service, and value for money. Check out the results here.
According to its Facebook page, Red Server Host started its journey in 2014. Although its English-language website says a lot about its hosting packages, it provides very few details about the company’s history or infrastructure, apart from the facts that it is located in Allahabad (India) and has servers located in Kansas City, Missouri.
With several Linux shared web hosting, VPS, and reseller plans to its name, Red Server claims to be India’s number one Linux web hosting provider. It also offers more specialist hosting (e.g., Java and SSD/FFmpeg shared hosting) plus Windows plans.
Features and Ease of Use
Red Server Host offers four kinds of shared hosting: Linux, Windows, Java, and SSD/FFmpeg. Some of the notable features of the Linux shared hosting plans are:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- CloudLinux OS
- 1 to unlimited websites
- 1 GB to unlimited web space
- 10 GB to unlimited bandwidth
- cPanel control panel
- 20 to unlimited MySQL databases
- One-click backup and restore
- Free SSL per main domain
- Support for PHP 5.x and 7.x, cURL, GD, Mycrypt, and CGI
Shared hosting plans come with the Softaculous one-click installer that simplifies the process of installing popular apps such as WordPress, Drupal, Joomla, Magento, PrestaShop, and OpenCart. If you’d prefer to build your website without relying on a CMS, you can still do this without any technical expertise. The website builder helps you create a professional website without having to code it from scratch.
Red Server Host lets you choose between super-fast and reliable SSD storage or economical HDD storage. On the subject of SSD, the SSD/FFmpeg shared hosting plan lets you create, convert, manage, and stream multimedia content while keeping bandwidth and storage requirements low.
Pricing and Support
Although this company claims to offer extremely cheap rates, the Linux shared hosting plans turn out to be slightly expensive, with even the starting plan costing almost double the industry average.
You can pay for plans in USD or INR via PayPal, credit card, or Paytm (only for Indian customers) on billing cycles from monthly to triennial. If you sign up for longer than a year, as a new customer, you get a 30-day money-back guarantee that should get you out if anything goes wrong within the first few weeks. Shorter refund windows are offered for the shorter monthly and quarterly sign-ups, but these are not sufficient to fully assess the services.
You can contact this company’s customer support team via telephone, support ticket, email, live chat, or online form (for pre-sales). Unfortunately, my approach fell on deaf ears, and I received no response. If you’re looking for self-support resources, you may be similarly disappointed. While the blog contains some useful articles and tutorials, the same can’t be said of the knowledge base that contains only five entries.
