Chilean web hosting service provider Puntoweb sells web hosting, email hosting, reseller hosting, VPS, domain registration, and IP telephony solutions. This Netglobalis company’s Spanish-language website doesn’t say when it was established, but it does include the tagline (translated), “12 years with you.”
Features and Ease of Use
Puntoweb provides eight Linux shared hosting plans, eight Windows shared hosting plans, nine email hosting plans, one web seller plan, one Linux/Windows reseller plan, three Linux VPS, and three Windows VPS plans. The Linux shared hosting plans come with the following features:
- Linux OS
- Management control panel
- 50 MB to 1 GB storage
- Unlimited monthly transfer
- One MySQL database
- 10 mailboxes (of 20 MB each) to 200 mailboxes (of 50 MB each)
- Dynamic PHP web pages, and Perl support
- Cron jobs
- Unlimited FTP
- POP3/SMTP
- Spam filter and antivirus
The hosting provider mentions webmail as a feature, but they don’t mention user-friendly features like a website builder or one-click installer. Additionally, it appears that they offer HDD storage instead of the faster and more reliable SSD storage.
Puntoweb mentions 95% uptime for virtual servers, which isn’t great.
Pricing and Support
Puntoweb’s feature-limited shared hosting plans are competitively priced whereas the VPS plans are pricey. The problem is that you can’t purchase any of the hosting plans directly from Puntoweb’s website. You have to submit an order form, then wait for an invoice to be sent to you. Once you’ve paid the invoice, you can expect your service to be activated within four hours. There is no money-back guarantee, as far as I can see, therefore no easy way to back out.
You can supposedly seek support via telephone (during working hours on weekdays), ticket, email, or online contact form. Unfortunately, I received no replies to my two test emails. You’ll be similarly disappointed if you go looking for self-support resources since there is no knowledge base or anything similar as far as I can see.
