Operating under the Domaine-Achat brand, Privianet is a very experienced hosting provider that has been operating since the year 2000. They offer web, dedicated server, and cloud storage hosting solutions as well as a range of supplementary services. Their focus is on providing high-availability and high-performance hosting from their two world-class data centers. They currently host over 5,000 websites for 3,000 customers.
Features and Ease of Use
Privianet can’t really be classified as providing “feature-rich” hosting, but they give you the freedom to configure your own products and services. As standard you can get:
- Domain registration
- Free and various purchasable SSL certificates from RapidSSL and Thawte
- Daily offsite backups held for up to 7 days
- Up to 900GB SAS 15K configured with RAID
- Unlimited bandwidth
With a maximum of 10GB storage, 10 databases, and 10 email addresses, Privianet’s web hosting can be a bit limiting. However, all web hosting plans come with a firewall, free SSL certificate, PHP version 7.1, website statistics, and hosting in one of their two high-performance Carriers Hotels Standard III data centers (which fall between Tier III and Tier IV). They also provide full email functionality through RainLoop webmail.
Their dedicated servers are configured with Intel Xeon E3 CPUs, 24GB RAM, 2 x 450GB SAS 15K, and up to 250Mbps connection speeds.
Privianet offers standalone email hosting, a variety of managed server services, and cloud storage solutions as part of their range of services. They have also developed their own in-house control panel, which is user-friendly and well-designed.
Pricing and Support
Privianet provides uniquely-priced web hosting. Rather than simply purchasing preset packages, you build your own hosting solution by choosing the amount of storage space, the number of databases, and the number of email addresses you need. You are then charged accordingly. While it’s very convenient to get a product priced according to your exact needs, the downsides are that Privianet is quite expensive and the resource maximums are quite limited (with no unlimited options).
There are no short-term billing options, so you have to commit to at least a year, and discounts only start at the three-year commitment. You have to be fairly sure about signing up because there are no money-back guarantees. The price includes an SSL certificate, but a domain name costs extra.
There is only one standard dedicated server configuration, but you can create a custom setup by contacting the company. You can also buy add-ons such as SSL certificates and installation, interventions, and payment gateway setup. Although the dedicated server price is quite reasonable, the add-ons are incredibly expensive.
All Privianet’s hosting products come with 24/7 technical support via telephone, ticket or email. But beware that Privianet outsources its support. It’s not the best support I’ve received, but also not the worst, and their knowledgeable technicians are responsive enough. This vendor also provides a pretty good knowledge base containing informative articles and tutorials.
