Founded in 2007, PowerHost.bg is a Bulgarian hosting company providing services such as shared hosting, reseller hosting, managed, and unmanaged servers (VPS and dedicated). It has several data centers in Bulgaria and the United States. The PowerHost.bg website is available in Bulgarian and English.
Features and Ease of Use
PowerHost.bg groups its shared plans based on data center location. As such, it offers Hosting in Bulgaria and Hosting in USA plans. The features you’ll get on these plans include:
- From 10GB to 100GB disk space
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Daily/weekly backups
- Free SSL certificates
Some unlimited features include FTP and email accounts, subdomains, and parked domains. Add-on domains are unlimited on four out of eight plans. Its database features include an unlimited number of both MySQL and PostgreSQL with phpMyAdmin and phpPgAdmin tools.
PowerHost.bg supports multiple selectable versions of PHP, with Perl, Python, CGI-BIN, Zend optimizer, curl, and several other software options. With a Linux operating system, it offers the cPanel control panel through which you can upload files directly to your server or via FTP and also view server error logs.
Another activity that can be set up through the control panel is Cron jobs. PowerHost.bg offers the Cron feature to enable you to schedule certain tasks to take place with regards to your account.
Hosting in Bulgaria comes with Softaculous, while Hosting in the U.S.A comes with Fantastico De Luxe. These tools feature an extensive library of scripts to help you install a blog, forum, or online store with just a few clicks.
Secure shell (SSH) access is also available. Not all host providers offer this feature on shared plans as it is an advanced developer feature. The fact that it comes with these plans gives them an edge.
It uses SSD arranged in RAID 10 format on its servers. This improves server uptime and is efficient for maximum protection of data.
Pricing and Support
Out of the four Hosting in USA plans, two are slightly pricier than their counterparts in Hosting in Bulgaria. In general, the pricing remains highly affordable and positions itself competitively among other similar plans available in the market.
Generally, its billing cycles are monthly, semi-annual, and annual with billing methods accepted being PayPal, credit cards, bank transfer, ePay.bg, and cash payment at PowerHost.bg’s office.
For the first plan on each group, the free domain registration service is only available on a biennial billing cycle (you might have to place a request for this) and on an annual billing cycle for the second plan. The free domain for the other plans doesn’t come with these conditions. It offers a 14-day period in which you can terminate the service and get a refund.
PowerHost.bg offers support to its clients through phone, email, Skype, ticket, and frequently asked questions. I received a prompt response to an inquiry I sent via email.
