Pamir Web Host has been providing Afghanistan-based website hosting since 2006. Apparently, it provides “state-of-the-art load-balanced web hosting” and has grown from co-locating in two U.S. data centers to nine around the world. It has more than 25,000 domains registered and the website is available in English.
We actually interviewed an executive at Pamir Web Host, and here’s what we learned.
Features and Ease of Use
Pamir Web Host sells a full suite of hosting services including shared hosting, which comes with the following core features:
- 99.09% server uptime guarantee
- Weekly automatic backups
- Domain registration available
- Up to unlimited add-on domains
- Free shared SSL certificate
- Unlimited disk space and bandwidth available
Pamir Web Host has its servers co-located in multiple worldwide data centers in Kansas City, (U.S.), Clifton Park, (U.S.), Chicago, (U.S.), West Palm Beach, (U.S.), Houston, (U.S.), Orlando, Florida, (U.S.), Scranton, (U.S.), Düsseldorf, (Germany), the Netherlands, U.K., and Canada.
The uptime guarantee is low at 99.09%, but it is backed by an SLA. However, be sure to note, in order to qualify for compensation, you must report downtime within three days to Pamir Web Host.
For beginners, there’s an installation of RV Site Builder and also Softaculous one-click installer, meaning you can easily get started with zero coding experience. The control panel is also the beginner-friendly, cPanel.
Experts are well catered to as well. There are the standard features like MySQL databases, phpMyAdmin, FTP accounts, and PHP versions 5 through 7, as well as some less common features like Microsoft SQL, support for Ruby on Rails, and Cron jobs to set up repetitive tasks on your website.
The servers use SSD storage in RAID 10 configuration to minimize the risk of data loss and you can also choose from Windows or Linux operating systems if that’s important to you.
Pricing and Support
The prices are displayed in U.S. dollars and, unless you select the base plan, get quite pricey. The base plan comes with all of the same features and has substantial resources with 5GB of disk space and unlimited bandwidth, however, the main catch is that it’s only for one domain.
The plans can be bought in terms ranging from one month to three years, but there are no discounts for purchasing longer terms. All plans come with a free shared SSL certificate and Cloudflare CDN, but you do need to purchase a domain name.
There are some interesting optional add-ons in the checkout flow such as monthly website updates, SEO optimization, and website design if you’d like a more hands-on provider.
You can reach customer service through an online contact form, phone, email, ticket, and live chat, although the live chat was offline when I visited the website and the online contact form didn’t work. It’s great to have a substantial knowledge base available for reference as well.
I contacted the team by email mid-afternoon on a weekday local time. I received a reply in full and in English on the same day. What’s more, overall I found the website easy to use and informative.
