nxtHost is for web hosting, software, domain registration, and website security. The company is located in Bucharest, Romania, its servers are housed in data centers in Bucharest, Romania, and it has network connections with the United States and Amsterdam. Its Website is in English and Romanian.
Features and Ease of Use
There are three WordPress plans that include an automatic WordPress installation upon payment. Also, nxtHost offers three shared hosting plans that are suitable for moderate websites. Customers on the regular shared hosting plans get the following:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free SSL certificates
- Unlimited bandwidth
- Daily automatic backups
- Either five or unlimited websites per plan
- 10GB, 25GB, or 35GB SSD
If you have more than one website that you want to host, nxtHost will provide SSL certificates for all of the websites regardless of the number. Another feature that the company doesn’t limit is email accounts. You can set up as many as you wish, as long as you don’t exhaust your provided storage space.
The automatic backups are kept for 30 days in its system, so you can restore a backup that was taken within the previous month. As usual with web hosts, it doesn’t assure you that the backups will happen or that you’ll see the exact one you need. So, you should also take your own periodically. You can set up cron jobs to help here.
nxtHost uses the CloudLinux operating system. It separates hosting customers using a shared server into virtualized environments to limit excessive use of total server resources that can affect other users on the server. This also improves data security and stability.
Customers can program with PHP. The company supports many versions of PHP and you can select the one you want for each website with the PHP selector in your cPanel. Unfortunately, there’s no one-click installer. You’re expected to manually install any application that you need.
Pricing and Support
nxtHost’s web hosting plans start out low-cost but as you get to the Platinum plan, the price isn’t low-cost anymore. You’d get lower prices for those exact features in some of the top web hosting companies out there. All prices are in Euros.
The beginning subscription period available is for one month at a time, and if you’re willing to go for longer terms, you’ll get a discount of up to two and a half months off for a year. You can pay with PayPal, Visa Electron, MasterCard, and Maestro.
nxtHost doesn’t employ any trickery. The price you see on the features pages is the exact amount it charges for one month of hosting and renewal, and there are no hidden charges. Unfortunately, there’s no free trial or money-back guarantee. You might get a refund of your leftover months if you cancel on a longer term contract, but there’s no guarantee.
Customer support is available via ticket, phone, and live chat on Monday to Friday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM GMT+2. nxtHost expects customers to install applications manually but doesn’t have a guide for this, any tutorials, or a knowledge base section of any kind, which was pretty disappointing.
I opted to reach out to support via live chat and connected with an agent who assisted me in linking my domain to the server.
