MUV IT and Telecommunication Services LTD. Sti (English translation) was established in March 2014 in Istanbul. This company has its datacenter in Bursa, and it sells a range of hosting services from its Turkish-language MUVHost website.
Features and Ease of Use
MUVHost lists 19 shared hosting plans, 7 reseller hosting plans, 2 colocation plans, 18 VDS, and 73 dedicated servers (in Turkish, French, and German locations). With the company’s affordable shared hosting plans, you get:
- Linux OS
- cPanel control panel
- 100 MB to 1 GB disk space
- 2 GB to 20 GB monthly traffic
- 1 to 10 hosted websites
- 5 to unlimited email addresses
- 2 to unlimited MySQL databases
- 10 to unlimited FTP accounts
MUVHost offers software licenses for LiteSpeed, Plesk, cPanel, Softaculous, Webuzo, and Virtualizor. Picking up on two of these: Softaculous lets you install several popular apps with one click (and no technical knowledge) whereas the Webuzo Application Manager provides a control panel for the LAMP stack that comprises Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. The disappointment for me is that many other hosts include such things for free.
The most commonly used PHP components are installed on hosting servers, including ionCube Loader, Zend Optimizer, GD libraries, and cURL, so you are assured 99.9% script compatibility.
If you want to set up an e-commerce shop, MUVHost has two “Application Hosting” plans specifically for this purpose.
MUVHost’s servers run on high-performance processors with RAID 10 SSD drives for performance and reliability. It doesn’t oversell its servers, and a CPU limit of 20% to 50% (depending on your package) means that heavy users shouldn’t slow down your hosting. With MUVHost, you get 99.8% uptime, which is below the industry average.
Pricing and Support
MUVHost’s shared hosting plans are dirt cheap. However, the paid add-ons (including things that are usually free such as Softaculous) quickly increase the costs. Some plans provide free SSL whereas other plans require you to pay for a Comodo SSL certificate.
You can pay for the plans in U.S. dollars by bank transfer, credit cards, mobile payment, and even Bitcoin. Billing cycles range from yearly to triennial, with small discounts for longer-term commitments. In my opinion, the minimal three-day money-back guarantee is too short a time to test the services before continuing with such a commitment.
The 24/7 customer care team can be contacted by telephone, ticket, email, or live chat. Unfortunately, the live chat channel wasn’t available when I wanted to try it, and my exploratory email was returned with an ‘Address not found’ error. For self-support, MUVHost’s blog contains some useful tutorial style posts, but the knowledge base includes only one article:
