Founded in 2001, Joinweb is a longstanding website hosting provider with over 30,000 customers and more than 95,000 hosted websites. They are a leading Israeli provider, with a highly qualified team, and their Hebrew website is indicative of a primarily Israeli customer base.
Features and Ease of Use
Joinweb offers a concise range of website hosting services including WordPress hosting, ASP.NET hosting, dedicated servers, SSL certificates, and domain registration.
To give you an idea, their WordPress website hosting plans include the following standard features:
- Automatic periodic backups
- Domain registration available at additional cost
- Unlimited websites
- Free SSL certificates
- 8GB storage space
- 50GB monthly traffic
They offer some nice features for beginners. Firstly, they offer a one-click installer for over three hundred programs, which is quite a lot more than many website hosting providers. Secondly, they offer a lot of security features out of the box (which is helpful for beginners), including Enterprise DDoS Protection, FortiGate firewall protection, Linux malware detection, and ClamAV AntiVirus.
From their website, it is not clear if they own their own data centers, but they do state that their data centers are Tier III which means 99.982% uptime (not guaranteed) and a minimum of 72 hours protection in the event of a power outage. They are also ISO 27001 certified, which means they have appropriate measures and systems to ensure ongoing improvements to their information security and service quality.
It is also good to know that whilst their shared hosting packages for WordPress and ASP.NET are great for new website owners and small to medium-sized businesses, you can also scale up to Joinweb’s dedicated server rentals and virtual private servers.
Pricing and Support
Unlike most website hosting providers, Joinweb has only one package each for WordPress and ASP.NET, but you can select add-ons and update the configurations at the checkout to customize your plan as needed.
Their prices are quite high when compared to international providers, but they are comparable with local Israeli competitors. However, it’s important to consider that the base package is subject to considerable add-ons (WordPress security, auto backup, and domain registration) although site monitoring is a free optional add-on.
Joinweb only provides one contract term, which is yearly. It wouldn’t be as bad if they offered a free trial or money-back guarantee, allowing you to try before making a purchase. However, they don’t provide these options. Ideally, they should offer month-to-month pricing with discounts for longer terms.
Joinweb’s customer service is pretty good. For new customers, their support is available via email and telephone between the hours of 9:30 am and 4 pm on weekdays. Existing customers get 24/7 support via a customer service portal. They respond to technical requests within 15 minutes, which is excellent, and they also have a relatively large database of help documents on their website.
