This small Chilean hosting company seems to have a bit of an identity crisis, since it goes under the names iNet, NETCAFE, and RED6 (or possibly all three). For this review, I’ll stick with iNet since it corresponds with the company’s web address.
iNet boasts about many years of experience (up to 25) in the development of computer systems, not all of which (obviously) has to do with web hosting. Despite its longevity, it seems to have stayed pretty small, and it serves mainly – if not only – small companies with shared hosting, VPS hosting, and dedicated servers.
iNet’s Spanish-language website has a distinctly “old style” feel to it.
Features and Ease of Use
iNet’s hosting packages provide a pretty narrow range of features that should be just enough to satisfy your basic hosting needs. Some of these features are:
- cPanel
- 99.99% uptime guarantee
- Weekly backups
- SSD storage
- PHP support
The higher priced plans come with unlimited subdomains, MySQL databases, email accounts, and FTP accounts, and all plans offer a “Zero Tolerance” option that protects your website against malware and hacking.
Pricing and Support
iNet offers six main hosting plans that vary in terms of storage, bandwidth, and a few other features. The lower hosting plans can only be bought on yearly contracts whereas the higher packages can be bought with monthly or annual billing options.
This provider’s hosting prices are not the cheapest you will find, especially considering the limitations, but in my experience, this is not that unusual for a hosting vendor of this vintage.
When you first subscribe, you have the option to pay using credit cards or bank check, and the company provides a 30-day money-back guarantee.
Unfortunately, iNet gets low marks for customer support for several reasons. Although you can theoretically contact the company via a contact form or email, I failed to secure a response via either method. Also, the vendor’s website contains little content, and there is no such thing as a knowledge base other than a basic FAQ page:
