Indowebhoster is an Indonesian website hosting provider which has been in operation since 2008. It has seven servers located in Tier I data centers in Jakarta, Indonesia and Los Angeles, U.S. The website is in Indonesian but support is also provided in English.
Features and Ease of Use
Indowebhoster offers a comprehensive range of website hosting services, including shared hosting, cloud virtual private servers, dedicated servers, and domain registration, as well as website development. The shared hosting plans come with the following core features:
- 99.99% uptime guarantee backed by service level agreement
- Automatic backup – daily, weekly and monthly
- Domain registration available at additional cost
- Between one and twenty add-on domains
- SSL support included for higher packages
- From 200MB to 10,000MB disk space dependent on package
Indowebhoster offers a simple, easy to use website, which is pretty informative. It has seven servers, although only five are active, which are located in Indonesia and the U.S. They are located in Tier I data centers (as advised by the live chat), which unfortunately is the lowest tier, with an expected uptime of 99.671% (28.8 hours of downtime annually). It also advertises a 99.99% uptime guarantee, which is at odds with tier I specifications, and I cannot find the details in the terms and conditions.
Indowebhoster includes some nice value adds, for example, even the basic packages include multiple FTP accounts, MySQL databases, parked domains, subdomains, and add-on domains, as well as cron jobs. There is a Fantastico one-click installer, for an unknown number of applications, and it uses cPanel, a widely used option due to its reliability and compatibility.
Whilst there is support for PHP, it is only for version 5 and not the far faster version 7.2, often supported nowadays, and no support is provided for advanced coding languages such as Ruby, Python, or Javascript.
Pricing and Support
There are seven packages of shared hosting: Basic, Personal, Business, Professional, Corporate, Enterprise, and Ultimate. The packages range from 100MB disk space to 10,000MB, and 20GB bandwidth to unlimited, meaning most small, everyday website owners could make do with the basic plan.
The prices are very cheap. If you don’t need advanced features, support for PHP 7+ or Ruby on Rails, for example, you can get a great price for your website hosting. Contracts can be purchased in one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, or ten year terms. The price does not decrease for longer terms but that’s okay because the prices are so affordable anyway. Domain registration is an added cost, whilst SSL is free on the four highest packages.
To get support, there is telephone, email, and live chat. The business hours are not advertised on the website, however I was told on live chat that they are available 24/7. What’s more, the support on live chat is excellent. I’ve contacted them after usual business hours (5:00 p.m. onwards) and they’ve always picked up and helped me politely and efficiently.
There is a small FAQ section, as well as a member login area, so there may be a larger knowledge base or ticket support system that is exclusively available for logged-in customers.
