Hostnetindia operates as a subsidiary of The Pinnacle Group Inc. India. It partners with multiple Tier III data centers located in India, the United States, and the United Kingdom. It currently serves more than 2,000 business entities globally with over 25,000 active domains on its servers. The company was founded in 2006 and offers its website and services in English.
Features and Ease of Use
Hostnetindia offers a range of shared, VPS, SSD cloud, reseller, and dedicated hosting solutions. The company’s shared hosting packages include the following features as standard:
- 99.95% uptime guarantee
- Weekly backups
- MySQL/MSSQL databases
- Your choice of Windows or Linux OS
- Unmetered bandwidth
Hostnetindia offers four shared hosting plans that start out with 1GB disk space, one hosted domain, and two email accounts. The highest-end plan upgrades this to 20GB disk space, 30 hosted domains, and 60 email accounts.
For some reason, the company has made a distinction between regular shared hosting and Linux hosting, even though you can get a Linux-based OS with the regular shared hosting packages. Both types of hosting have essentially the same specifications; the only difference is that the Linux plans include unmetered bandwidth.
You’ll notice here, however, that Hostnetindia only offers weekly backups with its shared hosting plans. If you opt for a VPS or dedicated hosting plan, you can configure your server to make backups on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis — but on shared hosting, you’re stuck with only a weekly option. If you’re running on WordPress or anticipate having multiple people managing your website, this may be a distinct disadvantage.
Hostnetindia also offers a website builder, though this comes as a separate subscription with its own web hosting package.
Pricing and Support
Compared to other web hosting companies in the Indian market, Hostnetindia’s packages are rather pricey. This is also likely because of its higher uptime guarantee and SSD storage, however. Also note that you won’t get a free domain name registration or SSL certificate with Hostnetindia’s shared hosting plans, though the entry-level PositiveSSL certificate is inexpensive.
There are no discounts, free trial periods, or free website builder on Hostnetindia’s shared hosting packages. In addition, only annual, biennial, and triennial billing options are available — and you won’t get any preferential rates even if you sign up for a longer term up front. There’s a seven-day money-back guarantee, however.
Supported payment methods include PayPal, PayPal Express Checkout, PayUmoney, Razorpay, credit cards, debit cards, and NetBanking.
24/7 support is available via email and telephone. You can also contact Hostnetindia’s support team through live chat, tickets, and a forum — however, note that the forum is basically inactive. (It had a grand total of one post when this review was written. Sadly, there’s no knowledge base available.
I personally used Hostnetindia’s live chat to submit a query, and I was impressed by how quickly the agents responded. They were also friendly, polite, and knowledgeable about their products.
