HostBangla is a web hosting company offering shared and VPS hosting packages from servers in Malaysia and the United States. The company was founded in 2008 as a joint venture with a company in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Support is offered in English. The website states that there’s a Bengali version available, but I was unable to access it on any browser.
Features and Ease of Use
HostBangla offers both U.S. and Malaysia-based data centers. This gives e-commerce merchants with customers in both North America and Southeast Asia geographic proximity to both markets.
HostBangla offers a superb 99.99% availability guarantee, daily backups, and one-click installations of 400 scripts including Joomla and WordPress via Softaculous with all shared hosting packages. Unfortunately, there are no free SSL certificates or domain names included in these plans.
HostBangla only offers shared hosting for Linux; no Windows shared hosting plans are offered.
It also offers the following features:
- FTP access with unlimited accounts
- PHP support with phpMyAdmin
- Unlimited MySQL databases
- SSH access
HostBangla also offers specific shared hosting plans for WordPress. Beginning webmasters can benefit from static and dynamic web design services, SEO services, and online marketing help as well.
Separate VPS hosting packages are offered for both Linux and Windows. Full root access is available, and the feature list includes:
- OpenVZ virtualization
- cPanel license
- RAM and memory upgrades
Pricing and Support
HostBangla offers a 30-day money back guarantee if its hosting does not meet your needs.
HostBangla provides four shared hosting plans with disk space ranging from 1-10GB and support for 1-10 add-on domains. All plans include unlimited MySQL databases and bandwidth. As you move up to higher tiers, you’ll find excellent value. For roughly twice the price, you’ll experience approximately three times the performance.
That said, there’s no price point that offers a good match between cost and performance. The price of the entry-level plan for beginning webmasters is much higher than those of competitors’. At the same time, most medium and large websites will find the 10GB storage cap too low for their needs. So overall, all webmasters will struggle to find something that perfectly meets their needs.
The WordPress-specific hosting is priced similarly to what you will find elsewhere and offers 5GB disk space, a single MySQL database, and unlimited data transfer. Most beginning webmasters should find it adequate, though they won’t be able to run any database-driven scripts beyond the initial WordPress installation.
There are four VPS Windows hosting plans offered, ranging from 1-4 CPU cores, 25-100GB RAID10 storage, and 2-8GB DDR3 ECC memory. There are also four VPS Linux hosting plans offered, ranging from 1-4 vCores, 10-100GB RAID10 storage, and 2-12GB DDR3 ECC memory. These plans cost less than what you would pay for similar storage and memory capacities elsewhere. The relative value as you move up the tiers is average — about 1:1.
Unfortunately, the use of HDD in its VPS plans isn’t ideal. HostBangla presents itself as offering servers in the U.S. and Asia — a clear value proposition for e-commerce merchants. However, many of these same merchants will probably want to use the more powerful SSDs.
Support options are good. As you can see from the screenshot below, I was able to get an instant response from live chat support. There is also phone, WhatsApp, email, and ticket support available.
