GlobeHost is a web hosting services provider from India offering an array of shared, VPS, cloud, reseller, and dedicated server hosting packages. Though their core offerings are their hosting packages, they also provide several value-added internet services such as custom website design, Google Pay-Per-Click (PPC) marketing services, and bulk SMS packages. To date, they’ve sold over 2,500 cloud servers, host over 25,000 domains, and served over 25,000 clients.
Features and Ease of Use
The features of their shared hosting plans seem slightly restrictive, but the plans correspond to the price you’re paying. For instance, their cheapest and most basic Linux shared hosting plan includes:
- Only one connected domain (sans the domain registration)
- A mere 250MB of storage
- 10GB of monthly bandwidth
- Five FTP user accounts
- Five email accounts
- Five MySQL databases
- Manual database backups and restores
- Support for PHP 5.2 to 7.0
The storage space provided seems low for an entry-level plan, but it’s acceptable given the price tag. The Standard shared hosting plans onwards offer considerably more space and bandwidth, but they also come at nearly double the cost. That said, if you’re only hosting a simple web front as a professional or small business, their Basic plan should more than suffice.
GlobeHost uses the industry-standard cPanel with all of their shared hosting accounts. Plus, every account includes access to a drag-and-drop website builder with free, mobile-friendly templates to get your website up and running quickly.
They guarantee a 99.9% uptime, which is fairly average in the industry. However, when I ran my own tests, I found that websites hosted on GlobeHost averaged a 99.97% uptime – a promising sign indeed.
What’s more, websites hosted on GlobeHost tend to have decent loading times – an important factor for ranking your website well in search engines. I conducted the page speed tests from servers located in the United States and averaged less than a second per page, so users in India should have far better loading times considering the servers are located in India.
Pricing and Support
GlobeHost’s plans have clearly been priced for users in India. In fact, their Basic Linux shared hosting plans are cheaper than the cost of daily transport for most, which explains why they’re such an appealing option for many professionals and small business owners. Their Windows shared hosting plans are a fair bit pricier, but that’s understandable considering the additional cost of a Windows OS server license.
If you need unlimited storage, you should choose one of their Unlimited Windows or Linux shared hosting plans or their Linux cloud hosting plans. The Linux cloud hosting plans, starting from the Business Cloud plan, come with unlimited storage and connected domains.
Of course, businesses that require greater performance from their web hosting servers also have the option of VPS or dedicated server hosting. Their full range of plans and reliability means that a small business that starts off with GlobeHost can stay with the hosting provider for the long haul.
24/7 support is available via their email or support ticketing system. Alternatively, they do have a live chat and telephone hotline open for queries during set hours. While not available around the clock, they seem to have extended their live chat and phone support hours well past regular business hours, which bodes well for international clients.
Customer support through their live chat was highly responsive; not only do they proactively reach out to their customers to check if they need help, but they always reply in under a minute and most issues are resolved on the spot.
