FreeYellow Review 2024 – Is It Worth It?

Solomon Ndung'u Written by: Solomon Ndung'u

FreeYellow sits in the same stable as several other hosting brands that come under the Endurance International Group umbrella. It offers Linux and Windows shared web hosting, and WordPress plans.

Overview

FreeYellow-overview11
Although it’s not as apparent as with some hosting brands, FreeYellow is one of the many hosts that come under the Endurance International Group umbrella. As such, it is based in Burlington, Massachusetts, and it is advertised as having been in business since 1996.

This host offers a variety of hosting services, including shared web hosting, email solutions, domain name registration services, and WordPress solutions. For shared web hosting, it offers the same “One Plan” as its sister brands.

Features and Ease of Use

FreeYellow-overview2

FreeYellow’s “One Plan” hosting plan is provided in Linux and Windows variants with the following features:

  • Free domain (with at least an annual commitment)
  • Unlimited disk space
  • Scalable bandwidth (that satisfies more than 99.5% of customers’ bandwidth demands)
  • Free domain
  • DNS management
  • Unlimited email mailboxes with webmail
  • 24/7 customer support
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Advertising credits

With the Linux variant, you get unlimited MySQL databases, and with the Windows variant, you get one MSSQL database.

Besides its shared web hosting plan(s), FreeYellow offers a WordPress hosting solution that comes in two variants:  WP Starter and WP Essential. It also offers two website backup plans: a Basic plan (to back up one website and one database, once a day) and a Pro plan (to back up unlimited websites, unlimited databases, up to five times per day).

FreeYellow houses its state-of-the-art hosting infrastructure in data centers located in Boston, U.S.A. They utilize SSD storage and have partnered with SiteLock experts to offer a deluxe security bundle that protects against malware and cyber attacks.

Pricing and Support

FreeYellow’s hosting solutions are expensive and come with a high one-time setup fee if you commit to less than a year. You can pay for plans in U.S. dollars on billing cycles from monthly to triennially, with lower prices for longer commitments, and you get a 30-day money-back guarantee.

For self-support, FreeYellow’s website includes a knowledge base, and for remote support, you can use the screen-sharing feature. The 24/7 customer service desk can be contacted via its toll-free telephone number, email, or live chat. I have found the staff to respond rapidly, and I enjoyed a fruitful conversation with a support agent via the live chat channel:

FreeYellow REVIEW: BOTTOM LINE

FreeYellow could be an ideal host for businesses looking for shared hosting and WordPress solutions. However, with no VPS or dedicated servers on offer, you won’t be able to scale up as your business grows. One of the best bits for me was my interaction with the technical support team.

Pros

  • SSD storage
  • Daily automatic website backups and restore services
  • 30-day money-back guarantee
  • Superior customer support

Cons

  • No VPS or dedicated server solutions
  • Expensive hosting with a high setup fee
