American host EdgedHost started out in 2009, since when it has managd 27,000 and 5,600 hosting accounts for more than 17,000 customers. EdgedHost’s modern website displays prices in U.S. dollars.
Features and Ease of Use
EdgedHost offers three shared hosting plans — Beginner, Standard, and Advanced — which include these features:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Cloudflare CDN
- SSD storage
- Free SSL
- cPanel control panel
- Softaculous installer
- Daily backups
- Unlimited subdomains
- FTP and MySQL support
The smallest Beginner plan provides 20 GB SSD storage, 100 GB bandwidth, five databases, and five email accounts. It could be a good choice for professionals and small businesses. At the other end of the scale, the largest Advanced plan provides 350 GB SSD storage, 500 GB bandwidth, and unlimited databses and email accounts. It would be more suintable for hosting high-traffic websites.
Performance is assured through a combination of SSD storage (which is far faster and more reliable than traditional HDD storage) and the Cloudflare CDN (which caches content close to your website visitors and also helps protect you against some kinds of cyberatacks). The free SSL secures your site, and daily backups help to keep your data safe.
If you’re looking for this vendor to supply a VPS or dedicated server, you are advised to contact the company for a custom quote.
Pricing and Support
EdgedHost’s prices, compared to international competitors, span from reasonable to expensive. Although they announced a new set of plans in February 2019 with lower prices than those currently advertised, it seems that these plans may indeed remain unchanged but now at higher prices.
You can pay for plans via PayPal or credit/debit card on monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, or annual terms, and the 15-day money-back guarantee gives you two weeks to change your mind.
The good news is that you can contact this company via telephone, ticket, email, or live chat. The not-so-good news is that live chat was offline when I wanted to try it, and my support ticket submission received no response. There are no self-support resources as far as I know.
