Dollar1Hosts, a United States-based company offers shared hosting, dedicated servers, reseller hosting, and Virtual Private Servers (VPS). The company was founded in 2014 and its servers are located in the Southeast region of the U.S. Its website is available in English only.
Features and Ease of Use
Dollar1Hosts offers shared hosting in Linux and Windows operating systems. On both categories, there are four plans on offer with the following features:
- 99.9% uptime
- Free domain on the top plans
- One, nine, or unlimited add-on domains
- Unlimited disk space
- Unlimited bandwidth
cPanel works on the Linux operating system only and Dollar1Hosts provides that on Linux shared hosting. Given that Plesk supports both Linux and Windows, it makes sense that it uses that for Windows hosting customers. Both control panels are great and user-friendly.
It provides a one-click installer. If you plan on using WordPress, Joomla!, Drupal, and any other supported CMS/application, it makes sense to use the auto-installer and get the work done in a few seconds compared to the minutes you’d use for manual installation.
For beginners, Dollar1Hosts provides RvSitebuilder that helps with website design without the use of HTML. It has a drag-and-drop tool that makes the whole process easy.
Dollar1Hosts supports PHP with Zend Optimizer, an application that optimizes PHP applications to execute scripts 40% to 100% faster. The company also supports Python, FastCGI, and ASP.NET.
MySQL databases come with the Linux shared hosting plans, and the Windows plans come with MSSQL databases.
The company provides either ten or unlimited email accounts depending on the plan you’re on with autoresponders. It promises that it is spam free, plus it has server-wide virus protection.
Pricing and Support
Even though Dollar1Hosts sounds like it’s all about $1 hosting, some of their plans are even cheaper than that! Their shared hosting prices are super low, and they throw in a price freeze guarantee, so your hosting cost will never go up.
Be aware that its subscription period starts from six months and not the one-month prices it quotes on the web hosting pages. However, it’s risk-free due to its 30-day money-back guarantee.
The VPS is low cost, but the dedicated server prices aren’t so affordable. That’s somewhat expected given the type of hosting that’s offered. On the plus side, there are one-month subscriptions.
Customer support is available 24/7 via email and ticket. It also has a live chat and Skype ID that you can reach it through. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have a knowledge base for DIY enthusiasts.
I sent an email but didn’t get a response even after waiting for two weeks.
