Features and Ease of Use
While Cloudean takes a fully customizable approach to hosting services, they do still cover the basics including:
- Domain registration, not included in product prices
- SSL certificates from multiple providers like GeoTrust, Comodo, and RapidSSL
- Backup and security suites
- 100% uptime SLA
- Fully customizable resources
For their global data center facilities, Cloudean only partners with the best infrastructure providers. This is what allows them to offer an incredible 100% uptime guarantee backed by SLA. They provide 10 Gbps network connectivity with 500 Mbps public uplinks as well as 1 Gbps private connections. The hardware consists of HP BL460 Blade servers and Intel Xeon E5-2660v2 CPUs with pure SSD storage.
Cloudean is generous with the features that ship with its products. Web hosting comes with Cloudflare Railgun, Apache Web Server, plus the cPanel control panel that you can use to install apps via Softaculous. They provide an Essential Security suite that covers backups, antivirus, spam protection, and an SSL certificate. PHP, FPM, and FastCGI are also provided along with other caching and performance tools.
Cloud servers come with all the aforementioned, and more, including a fully white labeled service, instant scalability, the ability to create virtual data centers, and the AnyCast DNS tool to increase your loading performance. Cloudean also takes the privacy of their customers very seriously.
Pricing and Support
Pricing works a bit differently at Cloudean. Instead of providing a number of premade plans or packages, they provide you with a base shared web hosting and cloud hosting solution that can be customized at additional cost. Web hosting and cloud hosting both come with a 7-day money-back guarantee and either monthly or annual billing, but there is no discount for paying per year.
The low-cost base shared web hosting plan starts you off with 1 TB of data transfer per month and 1 GB of storage. You can add storage or data transfer in 1 TB increments up to a maximum 4 TB of data transfer and an unspecified storage limit.
Cloudean cloud servers offer 2 vCPU cores, 2048 MB Memory, 30 GB SSD Storage, and 4 TB data transfer to start with. You have the flexibility to upgrade or downgrade these resources whenever you need, and there’s also the option to add extra NAS storage or IPv4 addresses.
Paid add-ons for DNS management, ID protection, and email forwarding are provided free for one year. You also get a pro-rata credit refund if you experience more than 0.01% downtime.
Cloudean only provides technical support via a ticketing system, although you can also contact the company via live chat. Their support staff are some of the most knowledgeable I have ever encountered, which is good because the self-serve knowledge base seems to still be a work in progress.
