Agility Hoster has been providing website hosting since 2006. Its headquarters are in Kiel, Germany, the servers are co-located in Bulgaria, and it has a support and sales team located in both the U.S. and the U.K. The website is provided in English.
Features and Ease of Use
It sells a range of hosting plans, including free plans, VPS, and shared hosting plans. The latter comes with these features as standard:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Automatic data backup
- Free domain registration
- Unlimited addon domains
- Shared SSL certificate
- Unlimited disk space
- Unlimited data transfer
In terms of shared hosting, it has three plans: Free, Personal, and Business. The two paid plans come with unlimited disk space and transfer, whilst the Business plans also come with unlimited domains and email accounts – pretty comprehensive inclusions all round.
After chatting with support, I can tell you that the servers’ storage uses a hybrid system, where all cache / short-term operations are executed on SSD’s and all files hosting on the servers are stored on HDD’s. Something to consider, as most hosts are moving towards pure SSD due to the significant increase in disk read/write times.
There’s an industry standard 99.9% uptime guarantee, which does not include a corresponding SLA on the website.
There are plenty of features for beginners such as AgilityHoster’s in-house “Zacky Website Wizard”, which comes with 90 designs to reportedly build your website with four steps. There’s also a fairly basic offering one-click installer with more than 50 programs supported (other plans support 300 – 400).
Considering this is a budget brand, the range of expert-level features are quite extensive, for example, you’ll get support for PHP (5 not twice as fast 7), MySQL databases, phpMyAdmin, and more advanced coding languages Ruby and Python. There are even Cron jobs and SSH access to ensure your website runs smoothly.
Pricing and Support
There’s a free plan, plus two paid plans, which are still good value for money, considering the level of features and resources. The free plan is limited on resources and features, so it’s likely most website owners will need to step up to one of the paid plans to get the full benefit from this host.
Even though the cheapest plans already include beginner-friendly tools and support for advanced coding languages, if you require unlimited domains or features like Cron Jobs and SSH access, you’ll have to opt for the highest-tier plan.
You can purchase the plans in terms ranging from three months to five years, with the monthly price reducing with the contract length. If you purchase a term longer than one year, you get a free .com/ net/ org/ biz/ info/ us/ co.uk/ org.uk domain name, plus start to benefit from the best monthly prices.
Customer service for sales is available via a U.S. branch, which is open weekdays 8:30 AM to 16:30 PM EST and a U.K. branch from 7:30 AM – 5:30 PM GMT, plus there’s 24/7 technical support, with a one hour response time for customers of the paid plans. There’s a comprehensive FAQs section, which includes how-to articles.
I contacted the team by the offline live chat window at 6.15 AM GMT, which is outside of both the U.K. and U.S. business hours, and as you can see from the time stamps, I received a reply within minutes. The operator was helpful and answered my questions in full.
