To compare the best web hosts, we hosted the same WordPress website on each one and tested performance, customer service, and value for money. Check out the results here.
American host Ace-Host was launched in 2003 as the hosting brand of Acenet, Inc. It serves its 50,000 customers with Linux web hosting on servers housed in a Southfield, Detroit data center.
For a company that’s been in business for more than a decade, I have to admit to thinking that Ace-Host’s main English-language website is surprisingly basic and unpolished. Its WHMCS-powered client site is available in additional languages and includes a surprisingly well-stocked knowledge base.
Features and Ease of Use
Ace-Host offers a very narrow range of hosting solutions that include shared hosting, reseller hosting, VPS (cloud servers), and dedicated servers. The sole shared hosting plan provides these key features:
- 99.9% uptime
- Dedicated IP
- cPanel control panel
- 32 GB disk space
- 320 GB bandwidth
- 2 GB memory
- Daily backups
- Softaculous script installer
From the feature list, it seems you get the essentials with this hosting plan, i.e., the cPanel control panel and the Softaculous installer. So, you can manage your hosting via a familiar interface, and you can install CMS apps such as WordPress, Drupal, and Joomla. As an alternative to a CMS-backed website, you could create your website yourself using the site builder.
You also get the usual Linux hosting features, including SSH access, Cron jobs, MySQL, remote MySQL, and phpMyAdmin. SSL certificates are sold separately.
When you’re ready to upgrade from shared hosting, Ace-Host offers six VPS hosting packages, which they refer to as “cloud servers.” These packages come with SSD storage ranging from 50 GB to 1,600 GB, bandwidth from 500 GB to 16 TB, and RAM from 2.5 GB to 80 GB. It’s all about finding the perfect VPS hosting solution that meets your storage, bandwidth, and RAM requirements.
Pricing and Support
Whether you want shared hosting, VPS, or dedicated server solutions, you find that Ace-Host’s prices are slightly higher than average. There is no free domain, and SSL certificates cost extra, but you do get a 30-day money-back guarantee that should make you feel better if (like me) you’re unsure about signing up.
Although Ace-Host doesn’t offer a live chat or phone support, its 24/7 ticket support team is quite responsive. I received a response to my test ticket within two hours.
How much does Ace-Host cost?
Ace-Host offers multiple plans priced highest to lowest. The price depends on which type of hosting plan you choose. You can see the updated pricing table (updated weekly) below.
Which Ace-Host plan should I get?
My recommendation is to start with a cheaper plan. You can always upgrade later on. Ace-Host can help you with the migration to a more expensive plan. The increase in visitors many times takes longer than expected and you shouldn’t pay a lot of money until the need arises. Of course, your needs may vary, and you can consult with a hosting expert from Ace-Host.
How good is Ace-Host’s customer support?
Ace-Host is not ranked as one of our top web hosts. But that can also be a result of Ace-Host being a small, under the radar, hosting provider. There are advantages to a small hosting company – as a customer, you are more important to them. You can also check out our comparison of the most popular web hosting services here.
