1072Web has a customer base of more than 15,000. This company offers web hosting, dedicated hardware, domain registration, and security add-ons such as SSL certificates. It uses servers that are located in the United States. Although its website has more than 20 language options, most do not translate from English when selected.
Features and Ease of Use
1072 offers Linux and Windows-based web hosting services in three plans each. Its expertise is in Linux and not Windows, so be mindful of that before you take a Windows plan.
Local businesses and personal blogs will be comfortable on the shared plans. If you take any of them, you’ll enjoy the following:
- 99.9% uptime guarantee
- Free private SSL certificate on top plans
- Free domain registration on Windows hosting
- 30MB, 5GB, or unlimited storage
- Anywhere from 300MB to unlimited bandwidth
Although it states that it has a 100% uptime guarantee on the website, customer support confirms that it’s actually 99.9%. Even then, there’s no downtime guarantee. If the company doesn’t meet the “guaranteed” uptime in a given period, it’s your loss only.
If you’re new to website development and hosting, you don’t have to rely on developers if you don’t want to. You can install content management systems and web applications such as WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal without having to manually mess with databases or files. All you have to do is use the one-click installer that 1072Web has provided in the control panel.
If you own an E-commerce website, 1072Web offers WULF hosting. WULF hosting offers more speed and comfort with unlimited space and bandwidth, a free domain on all plans, and a dedicated IP address. Also, these plans come with a website builder that you can use to build responsive websites with its drag-and-drop feature and ready-made templates that you can tweak.
Pricing and Support
Although its prices are pocket-friendly, some of them do not fit the features. For example, the Delux Linux plan only offers 2GB bandwidth. Depending on the size of your pages, you might exhaust that with about 1000 visitors monthly. If you really were to use the 5GB of space provided, you wouldn’t even get to that number of visitors.
It offers a free plan but the price of domain registration on that plan is so high that it makes up for the expected cost of the “free” hosting. You can buy your domain elsewhere, get the free hosting, and change your name servers to see if it works for you. Else, you can purchase the domain from it at a steep price. Either way, ensure you test it out first before committing financially because it doesn’t offer a money-back guarantee.
1072Web provides 24/7 live chat and ticket support for assistance. They don’t offer a phone number for direct contact, but the live chat option should be sufficient. I reached out to their live chat and connected with a support agent who helped me.
It also has a few articles in its knowledge base/blog that are relevant to managing hosting accounts.
