Wix Introduces YouTube Shopping Integration

Website builder Wix announced an integration with YouTube Shopping, enabling online store owners to showcase their offerings in a store format and sell them directly on YouTube. The integration is available via the Google & YouTube app from the Wix AppMarket and requires a premium plan to activate.

YouTube Shopping is a relatively new feature (launched in 2021) that allows brands and creators to showcase and sell products directly through their YouTube content. It’s currently available in the United States, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Wix merchants can now connect their store inventory with YouTube, ensuring real-time product availability. Also, product details, like descriptions and images, are automatically synced between the two platforms. Wix shop owners can manage YouTube Shopping through the Google & YouTube Sales Channels section within their Wix dashboard.

The integration allows merchants to tag products in video content, live streams, and the YouTube Shorts feed, enabling viewers to purchase directly from YouTube. Additionally, they can track the performance of the tagged products with YouTube’s analytics tools.

Creators, on the other hand, can promote and sell products during live streams and earn commissions on products from partner brands. Additionally, they can create a curated product shelf beneath their videos or a dedicated store tab for their merch or affiliate products.

“Our integration with YouTube transforms the social shopping experience for both sellers and buyers, and even influencers, allowing users to reach their target audiences where they already are, and enhancing their ability to engage with new and larger clientele,” Greg Sisung, Head of Sales Channels at Wix said in a press release.

The partnership with YouTube comes after Wix launched an AI-powered, chatbot-like customer support agent particularly helpful for e-commerce websites.

On top of this feature, Wix introduced a number of other AI features, including a dedicated AI website builder that creates entire websites from prompts.

The partnership between Wix and YouTube opens new revenue streams for merchants through shoppable video content and creates a unified shopping experience for customers. Aside from Wix, other e-commerce platforms that integrate with YouTube Shopping include Shopify, Spreadshop, and TeePublic, among others.
