Wix Announces New Features at Annual Dev Conference
Wix Studio held its Annual Conference, DevStudio Con, in Bangalore, India, this week and announced several new features it is bringing to market.
The announced updates include the new Wix Command-line Interface (CLI), upgrades to the Wix Design System, new app templates, an expansion of Wix plug-in capabilities, and other new developer tools.
The Wix CLI is a more streamlined alternative to the Wix Dev Center. It gives developers more flexibility to develop their apps as they see fit and is the same tool that Wix’s own developers use.
The Wix Design System gives app developers access to design and visual content libraries, including Figma kits, to ensure a consistent look and feel across their applications.
Wix has also made many app templates available based on various use cases, so developers can focus on the details of specific customization rather than having to start from the ground up. The templates are available from a number of Wix tools, including Wix CLI. They are all adaptable to ensure developers can fully edit the applications to match their needs.
Developers can also now extend the functionality of their apps by making plugins that integrate with Wix’s various business apps. This will ease how developers can build specific solutions within their existing apps, allowing them to offer more features to their users. Because the plugins can be sold on the app market, the feature can help create new revenue streams.
Other new capabilities Wix unveiled include a certification program where high-quality apps will receive a badge and new pricing plans. The company is also optimizing the user experience of finding apps by providing relevant suggestions based on users’ actions.
“We are continuing to open the Wix no-code and low-code platform with reusable, customizable apps and AI tools, all while providing more revenue opportunities,” said Shahar Talmi, GM Developer Platform at Wix.
DevStudio Con is a one-day event hosted by Wix Studio. It is aimed at web developers and app creators, who can come together to gather industry insights, network, and participate in hands-on workshops. The conference featured speakers from Wix, Google, and other industry influencers.
