Web.com Introduces New AI Tools
Domain registrant and hosting provider Web.com introduced two new AI-based features to help users kickstart their website-building journey. The AI Domain Name Generator is free, while the AI Writer is available only to paying customers.
Like other domain name generators, Web.com’s tool helps the user brainstorm potential names for their new website. The tool can generate domain name ideas based on word combinations and short descriptions of up to 200 words. It doubles as a domain availability checker, suggesting available names and rejecting registered URLs.
The AI domain name generator is idea-driven, as opposed to some domain name generators that are keyword driven. This means Web.com’s tool will most likely generate results that are more versatile and creative than those produced by keyword-driven generators.
Powered by OpenAI technology, the startup behind the popular chatbot ChatGPT, Web.com’s AI Writer can assist customers in creating custom website copy and other forms of digital content like social pages, meta titles, product descriptions, blog articles, and advertising campaigns. Users can personalize the content by providing keywords and selecting the tone.
The AI Writer is capable of generating content in 10+ languages, including English and Spanish. The multilingual capability enables users to create sites in languages they aren’t fully fluent in. But the tool won’t automatically insert the generated content into the website – the responsibility to insert the website content still falls on the user, but Web.com promises that future versions of the tool would feature automatic integration.
Wix was one of the first website builders to introduce AI text generation capabilities within its editor. The company’s AI Text Creator runs on a customized version of OpenAI’s GPT model, specifically designed for website creation. IONOS is another company that has recently integrated an AI writer within its MyWebsite Now website builder.
Just days ago, WPP, one of the biggest advertising agencies in the world, announced a partnership with chipmaker NVIDIA on an AI content engine that can produce various forms of brand-relevant content. AI-assisted content generation is quickly on its way to becoming the norm among tech and marketing companies.
