OpenAI Unveils Discounted Offers for Nonprofits
OpenAI has announced a new offering dedicated to nonprofit organizations to ensure their improved accessibility to OpenAI capabilities. They are offering discount rates for ChatGPT’s premium plans for businesses but not the API platform.
This new offer allows nonprofits to access advanced models like the newly-released GPT-4o, custom GPTs, a dedicated workspace, and administration tools. The discounted rate is $20 per month per user for ChatGPT Team (for small or mid-sized organizations), compared to the standard price of $25 to $30 per month per user. Larger nonprofits can access ChatGPT Enterprise at a 50% discount.
ChatGPT Team offers capabilities relevant to multiple aspects of an organization, such as market research and content creation for marketing teams or onboarding assistance for HR departments. ChatGPT Enterprise has everything in Team but also includes stronger security, more advanced administrative controls, and priority customer support.
In both cases, the data from the nonprofit will not be used to train OpenAI’s models, and the nonprofit will remain in control of its data. Like other ChatGPT users, nonprofits will have access to guides on how to get started. Potential use cases named by OpenAI include refining grant proposals and summarizing research findings.
This new offering is open to nonprofits worldwide, though not to academic, medical, religious, or governmental institutions. An external company called Percent assesses organizations’ eligibility and helps them incorporate charitable donation options into their online sales process.
The announcement of the nonprofit offering comes a day after the International Rescue Committee (IRC) unveiled a partnership with OpenAI. The IRC, a New York-based organization that provides aid for humanitarian crises, will use a $250,000 reward from OpenAI to develop and deploy an educational chatbot. It aims to supplement children’s education in crisis-struck areas where teachers are overstretched.
