Meta Plans to Deploy Meta Verified to Businesses
Meta announced at its conference in Mumbai that it will soon be rolling out Meta Verified for businesses on Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp.
Meta Verified was first rolled out for creators on Instagram and Facebook in February. The subscription allows creators to have a badge that confirms the authenticity of their identity, access to better support services, and improved protection from impersonators.
Meta Verified for businesses will offer similar features, plus more visibility on Instagram and Facebook. Verified businesses will appear at or near the top of search results and “as a recommended verified business to follow in [the user’s] feed.” For subscriptions on Instagram, the verified badge will also be visible on Threads when applicable.
Subscribers to Meta Verified for business will be able to create a custom searchable WhatsApp page as well as multi-device support to allow multiple employees to manage the business’s WhatsApp account.
Meta rolled out the Facebook and Instagram testing phase in New Zealand and will add more countries in the upcoming months. It will expand new WhatsApp features “in the future,” although there were no specific dates or locations mentioned.
To be eligible for Meta Verified, a business must hold a “minimum tenure” for its Business, Facebook, and Instagram account, have a minimum page and account activity, and activate two-factor authentication security for the account.
Meta will validate the applicant’s authenticity through phone numbers, email, or domain verification. Once authenticated, businesses may not change any details of their account, such as their name or profile picture. Should businesses wish to make such changes, they will need to go through the verification process again.
Pricing for Meta Verified subscriptions will run USD $21.99 per month for a Facebook page or an Instagram account and USD $34.99 per month for both. Subscriptions purchased on mobile will be set to USD $27.99 per month for either a Facebook page or an Instagram professional account. Pricing for WhatsApp is not yet available. Businesses can start purchasing subscriptions in the coming weeks.
