LinkedIn Introduces AI-Powered Networking Tools
LinkedIn has announced new AI-powered tools to help its users improve the way they use the platform to network with peers and colleagues.
It will roll out a new Network tab focused on helping its users connect with other users to develop and nurture their professional network. Within this Network feature, users will have a Grow tab and a Catch Up tab.
The Grow tab will use AI-powered algorithms to connect users with “relevant people” to add to their network. This feature offers personalized recommendations from the People You May Know category, leveraging the billions of connections, interactions, and engagements within LinkedIn.
The Catch Up tab helps users create a viable reason to reach out to contacts. This feature will make suggestions about the right time to reach out and send milestone reminders, including when connections “start a new gig, celebrate a work anniversary, announce that they are hiring, or even celebrate a birthday.” This gives users an easy way to reconnect and engage with their network.
On top of these standard features, Premium users will also be able to get even more help to open the door to new connections with AI-powered tools that will draft initial introduction messages.
Whether the message is a simple introduction or asking for specific information, this feature will pull together details from both profiles combined with the reason the user is reaching out. LinkedIn advised in its blog post announcing these new features that “this is just a starting point,” and users should review the content of the message for accuracy and tone before sending it.
LinkedIn has invested in these new features to help the millions of people who are spending between 6 and 8 hours a week developing and maintaining their professional network.
In this fast paced and dynamic environment, a strong network can help users identify new opportunities and help them stand out in the competitive job market. The importance of networking is all the more prominent right now as 2024 kicked off with large tech companies laying off employees.
