Google Business Profiles Display Social Media Content
Google Business Profiles will now automatically display posts from social media platforms in select regions.
Google first introduced the possibility to add social media links to Business Profiles last year. At the time, the Business Profile displayed the links directly, giving Search users an alternative way to interact with businesses. This update expands that feature to not only display links in the Business Profile, but also social media posts.
The goal of this new feature is to allow users to have a more complete view of a business by including its online activity directly from Google Search.
No action needs to be taken for businesses that have already added their social media accounts in their Google Business Profile. Social media posts will automatically appear in their profiles in regions where this new feature is available.
For businesses that have not yet updated their profiles, they can add up to one link for each platform: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, TikTok, X, and YouTube. Businesses can use the same social media account for multiple Business Profiles.
Users can easily edit their social media links at any time. In Search or Maps, users can update individual links. To update multiple locations at once, businesses can bulk edit their links using Google’s API. At the time of release, performance metrics will not be available.
Google has also said in some instances it will add social media links automatically – for example, when the Business Profile and the social media account share the same name. Google will also moderate some links to ensure invalid or unsupported links are not saved in a Business Profile.
Not only does this change bring more richness to Business Profiles, it also gives businesses a good reason to regularly engage with their social media accounts to ensure their Business Profiles do not remain static.
