Google Bard’s Latest Update Is All About Boosting Creativity

Google’s AI chatbot and potential ChatGPT rival Bard is now capable of producing a larger variety of drafts from a single prompt. The new update aims to better assist content creators, writers, and anyone who uses the tool in brainstorming ideas and generating content.

Previously, Bard generated one main result and three alternative responses from a single prompt. These drafts were meant to provide “a choice of a few different drafts of its response so you can pick the best starting point for you,” but rarely contained new information. Users could find unique information in these drafts only in limited instances – for example, when searching for recipes or other similar subjects.

With this update, the drafts will be “more distinct from each other,” and allow users to “expand [their] creative explorations.” They will be more varied, providing an abundance of different ideas and perspectives for a single topic.

Google’s Bard, a LaMDA language model-powered AI chatbot, officially launched on February 6, just months after Microsoft’s buzzy late November release of ChatGPT. Bard was introduced to the public on March 21 as a creative tool that can help users generate written content and conceptualize ideas. Google has been committed to upgrading its functionalities ever since.

Along with the draft update, Google added coding capabilities in over 20 programming languages to its AI chatbot. Users from all levels of programming experience can prompt Bard to help them with coding in languages like Java, JavaScript, Python, C++, and others. Bard can help with generating, exporting, and debugging code, as well as teach users about coding.

Earlier this month, Google also enhanced Bard’s math and logic capabilities, and included more suggested Search topics.

Bard infamously made several mistakes in its first demo, which isn’t uncommon among AI tools. Users are strongly advised to fact-check all results before relying on them.
