Fiverr Study Shows AI Freelancers in Demand

Sarah Hardacre Written by:
Fiverr published its 9th annual Business Trends Index, which continues to show that businesses are looking for AI expertise.

Fiverr build its Business Trends Index by analyzing the millions of searches on its platform and compared the results from the past six months to the previous six months to identify any significant changes in the search patterns.

Main trends identified in this report relate to businesses looking for freelancers who can help improve operational efficiency and management, companies looking to include AI in their marketing and operations processes, and retail businesses looking for ways to expand.

Businesses looking for operational efficiency were particularly interested in “Trademark attorneys” (searches were up more than 3800%), freelancers focussed on “business statistics” (up more than 2000%), and “economics” (up more than 200%). This would indicate that businesses are looking for outside consultants to help “launch a new venture or optimize strategies for sustained growth.”

Continued interest in AI expertise is another clear trend in the last six months. AI also took center stage in the fall 2023 edition of the Fiverr Business Trends Index.

In the current study, searches for “AI influencers” were up 6305%, searches for experts in “AI SaaS” increased by 1461%, and experts in “AI chatbots” increased by 84%. Businesses are looking to include AI in their marketing and social media strategies, as well as leverage AI to improve overall efficiency.

Retail businesses have also changed their search patterns, with increases in searches for freelancers experienced “packaging box design,” with the goal of reinforcing their current market status and expanding their offering to new markets.

CMO of Fiverr Matti Yahav says, “From mom-and-pop shops to multinational companies, organizations are looking for effective solutions to the day-to-day traditional elements of running a business while also experimenting with new technologies to revamp their operations to better serve their customers.”

Beyond the global trends, Fiverr also digs into country-specific trends. In Denmark, the biggest increase was for “website SEO,” while in Australia it was “female voice over.” In France, Italy, Israel, and the UK, employers focused on TikTok expertise. In the US, the top searches were for LinkedIn “profile optimization” and banner design.
