Apple Launches New iPad Mini With AI Features
Apple has launched its new iPad mini, which includes a powerful A17 Pro chip that will power Apple’s intelligence capabilities.
The new iPad mini offers various improvements, such as a 128 GB storage capacity, which is twice that offered in the previous standard version. It also has improved camera quality, AI-powered recognition capabilities right in the camera app, and new image editing capabilities.
The new A17 Pro chip elevates graphics performance, allowing designers, doctors, and other professionals to run demanding apps on the iPad mini. It also optimizes power efficiency, delivering battery life that lasts all day.
Apple Intelligence on the new iPad mini brings enhanced AI-driven experiences, including cross-app actions and adaptive learning that simplify everyday tasks. It also offers Private Cloud Compute, enabling “on-device processing and larger, server-based models” to operate on dedicated Apple silicon servers.
In writing tools powered by ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence will give users access to AI-powered text capabilities, such as summarizing, generating, or proofreading text when using Apple or third-party apps.
Siri, also powered by ChatGPT, will offer “more natural and flexible” communication, better understanding of unclear speech, and learning from each interaction.
The new iPad mini will work with Apple Pencil Pro, “turning iPad mini into a sketchbook users can take anywhere.” With built-in haptics, Apple Pencil Pro will simplify the creative process, allowing users to easily switch colors, line weights, and tools.
Bob Borchers, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide Product Marketing, said the iPad mini “appeals to a wide range of users and has been built for Apple Intelligence, delivering intelligent new features that are powerful, personal, and private.”
The new iPad mini launched on October 23, starting at $499. Apple Intelligence will be first available in US English from iPadOS 18.1 on iPads with at least A17 Pro or M1.
