Structured was born from a simple yet powerful idea: to create a planner app that focuses on managing one day at a time.
Inspired by the need for a straightforward tool that students could easily use, Leo, the founder, set out to fill this gap in the App Store. In an interview with
Website Planet, Kevin Kimmig shared how Structured’s clean timeline interface helps users see their daily tasks at a glance, eliminating unnecessary features that often clutter other apps.
The mission remains clear—make daily planning intuitive, effective, and accessible to everyone.
What inspired the creation of Structured and what is its primary mission?
When Structured was founded 4.5 years ago, we noticed that there wasn’t a good planner app in the App Store that focused on planning one day at a time, rather than a whole week or month. Leo, our founder, also heard from his classmates that they needed a simple day planner. So, he decided to create one that everyone could use.
Our mission is to make your day easy to manage with a simple timeline where you can see all your tasks for the day. We focus on keeping things straightforward and essential, without adding lots of unnecessary extra features.
How does Structured help users organize and manage their tasks more effectively?
Structured helps users organize and manage their tasks more effectively with its day-by-day planning approach. Each day and its tasks are visualized in a clear timeline, giving users a nice overview of their schedule. This timeline-based view makes Structured ideal for both those using the time-blocking concept and casual planners. Furthermore, the minimalist user interface emphasizes actual planning and minimizes distractions, allowing users to focus on their tasks rather than figuring out how to navigate the app.
What unique features set Structured apart from other task management tools?
Unlike traditional calendar apps that display tasks in a grid layout, Structured presents tasks in a clear, visual timeline. This makes it easier for users to visualize and manage their day at a glance, providing a more intuitive planning experience. Another standout is Structured’s focus on an aesthetic and minimalist user interface. This choice not only makes the app visually appealing but also ensures that it remains easy to use, helping users to focus on their planning without unnecessary distractions. Our primary goal is to offer a planning solution that is both effective and user-friendly.
Unique among day planners is also our Structured AI planning assistant. Powered by GPT-4, the Structured AI makes daily planning even easier and integrates seamlessly into your everyday routine. Structured AI can plan complex schedules just with voice or text input, simplifying the process of organizing your day. The Scan and Digitize feature allows users to capture physical calendars with their camera, integrating notebooks, wall planners, timetables, or working schedules directly into Structured.
Can you share a success story where Structured significantly improved someone’s productivity?
We receive many positive messages through our support mail and social media, and one especially nice note came from a high school student with ADHD via Instagram. He often found it hard to stay organized and keep up with school using regular (physical) planners or calendar apps, which were either too complicated or unclear.
When the user started using Structured, things changed quickly. The app’s clear timeline showed his day in an easy-to-understand way, breaking it down into smaller, manageable tasks. This helped him focus on one thing at a time without feeling overwhelmed.
The simple and clean design of Structured meant fewer distractions, and the task reminders helped him remember important deadlines and tasks.
This story shows how Structured’s user-friendly design can make a significant difference for students, especially neurodivergent students.
How does Structured ensure ease of use and adaptability for a wide range of users?
Our UI is designed so that people immediately know where to tap and how to plan, reducing the learning curve and making it accessible to everyone. From the moment users open the app, they can easily navigate and start organizing their tasks. With our minimalist design, we try to focus on planning and the tasks while minimizing distractions. This focus on simplicity means users can concentrate on their tasks and schedules without being overwhelmed by unnecessary features. Lastly, Structured’s simplicity makes it accessible to a diverse user base, including neurodivergent individuals.
What new features or updates is Structured planning to introduce?
The next big thing for us is to expand its availability beyond Android, iOS, and Mac by introducing a web app. This will make Structured accessible on every browser, allowing users to manage their tasks and plans from any device with internet access.
Additionally, we are planning to introduce weekly and monthly views to complement our day-to-day approach. These new views will provide users with a broader perspective on their schedule, making it easier to plan ahead while still maintaining the simplicity and focus that Structured is known for.
