Can you share a few details about UpSites’ founding story?

In 2015, I enrolled in a few low-cost online courses on becoming a digital marketing consultant. During my studies, I posted a question in the course’s Facebook community. Within minutes, João Vicente reached out, offering to share screens and help me directly. That’s how I met my business partner. After meeting in person, we decided to start UpSites, focusing solely on website development rather than a broader digital marketing agency.

At first, though, generating leads consistently was challenging, and we spent several months struggling to get traction. Eventually, I decided to study by myself and apply SEO strategies to our site. After a few months, we began to see results, and within a year, we ranked in the top 5 for highly competitive keywords like “website development” in Brazil. The incoming leads grew steadily, allowing us to sign on more clients and take on more projects. This growth led us to expand our services beyond website development, offering SEO consultancy, hosting, support, and website maintenance as well. This shift brought in a strong, recurring revenue stream, and UpSites finally took off.

What is the process from an idea to a website with UpSites?

The process begins with a conversation led by our sales team to fully understand the client’s goals and recommend the best direction. After signing the contract, we move into a detailed briefing phase, where the client fills out a guided form and works with a dedicated project manager. This manager is available to answer questions, consult on website development specifics, organize project timelines, and coordinate the design, development, and SEO teams.

Next is the layout phase, where we create a static image of the website, allowing the client three rounds of revisions to request changes. This is the stage for any structural changes the client wants to make to the site. We clearly define what can be adjusted in each phase to guide and support the client throughout the project. Once the layout is approved, we move into development, where the actual coding takes place. In the development phase, the client also has three rounds of revisions, however, at this stage, only minor adjustments—such as text, images, colors, links, and similar details—are permitted. After final approval, we conduct a thorough checklist to ensure everything is aligned with the design, functionality, and responsiveness requirements. We then migrate the site to the client’s chosen server, setting up conversion pixels, and analytics scripts, and providing them with their login credentials.

What is unique about creating an e-commerce website or platform compared to creating other websites?

Creating an e-commerce website is unique because it involves a higher level of complexity and security compared to other types of websites. Unlike regular sites, e-commerce platforms manage sensitive user data, including payment information and personal details, which demands additional security measures and compliance with data protection standards.

Beyond security, e-commerce sites need to provide a seamless and intuitive user experience, enabling easy product browsing, a straightforward checkout process, and robust account management features. Integrating payment gateways, managing inventory in real-time, and optimizing for high search engine rankings add further layers of complexity, as these factors are essential to attract traffic and drive conversions.

You also offer chatbot creation services. What can you tell me about that part of your work?

The site is based on a template from over 100 professional design options, with clients providing their text and images. Once launched, the website is hosted on Amazon AWS servers for a fast and reliable experience, with a monthly fee of R$95.
  3. E-commerce Development: E-commerce projects are customized to meet specific needs and include advanced features such as secure payment integration and a seamless shopping experience. These projects typically start at R$10,000, but we recommend a consultation to provide a tailored quote.
  4. SEO Consultancy: Our SEO consultancy services start at R$2,688. We work with clients to enhance their online visibility, optimize site rankings, and drive organic traffic growth.
  5. Chatbot Development: Pricing for chatbots varies based on complexity. We consider factors like the number of questions, integrations, conditional pathways, and automated actions. This flexibility allows us to design bots that fit precise business needs, so each project requires a unique quote.
