Can you give me a brief overview of My Favorite Web Designs as a company and its founding story?
I founded My Favorite Web Designs in 2009. I to ASU for business and economics, but wound up doing website design and marketing for my employers right out of college, and found that I had a real knack for designs that spoke to the intended target audience. Striking out on my own in 2009, My Favorite Web Designs was formed, and became self-sufficient almost right away. Initially, clients were discovered through email marketing and Craigslist ads, but within a year the SEO strength of MFWD was enough to bring steady lead flow, and the referrals from our happy client base grew and grew. Today, My Favorite Web Designs is a larger company, providing full service marketing as well as website design. With eight people in the coding department, three graphic designers, and even three video editors, My Favorite Web Designs completes hundreds of websites a year and has served thousands of clients over the last decade and a half. So of course the size of any website is always a factor. Not having wasted code, not using too much JavaScript or having JavaScript-dependent websites, not relying on overly large assets to load in order to serve your content, adhering to the best practices for WebCore vitals, even down to stripping the DOM so that you have a website that’s easier to render and work with for browsers. We also need to incorporate some of the most relevant optimizations that have occurred over the last few years, so native lazy loading, proper use of properly labeled HTML5 elements, next-gen image formats such as webp and Avif, intelligent schema tagging, first-party cookies, there’s so much that goes into creating a truly excellent website. Mobile speed is also really important, and for our optimization clients we work with layouts that are easy to convert to AMP pages as well, because that is still a significant advantage in search, and any article that suggests they might be deprecated is not accurate. There are tons of other factors, like using API instead of iframe embeds, clear simple navigation that puts your most important pages first, consistent authorship, ADA accessibility, the list is almost endless which provides plenty of opportunity for a skilled design team to create a website with tons of value add over your average website.What can you tell me about your ads management work?
So we are Google partners and AdWords certified. Many consumers don’t realize that a lot of advertising platforms try to give you a kickback in order to incentivize marketing teams to utilize their platform. Google ads stopped that a while back, but Microsoft Bing and Facebook both have made us offers, and we don’t participate in any profit-sharing kickbacks as the official company stance is that that is somewhat unethical, the only motivating decision factor in recommending an advertising channel would be the ROI for us. Because we have a great graphic design and video design department, we’re able to provide assets for display, performance max, video, and every type of ad imaginable inside of the Google ads system. We work with a number of different conversion tracking platforms as well and coach our clients on consistently marking values on their leads so that we can use conversion value optimization to its full potential for our clients. We’re also excellent at integrating LSA into the paid marketing mix, creating a remarketing campaign across channels so that your Google ads traffic is being remarketed on Bing and social. We bring a ton of advantages, we even help clients run servers that are close to their target audience so that there’s low latency in serving data, which is important for a local-centric business.
