This week, we had the opportunity to speak with Amber Huang, Marketing Manager of Fotor. We learned more about the evolution of Fotor, its mission, and what is ahead of the company in years to come.

What is the story behind the company: What sparked the idea, and how has it evolved so far?

Founded in 2012, Fotor is dedicated to providing everyone with professional-level photo editing and design that is simple to use with a shallow learning curve. The name “Fotor” is derived from the German word “Foto” meaning photo with an “r” which stands for an individual who deeply understands photos and their secrets.

After development brought in hard work and ingenuity, Fotor has become the name in the cross-platform photo editor and designer platforms industry, chock full of photo editing services available on all platforms, including web apps, mobile apps, and desktop software.

The brand-new Pxbee, launched in 2018 is where people can share and sell their images after editing them on Fotor. During the pandemic in November 2020, the brand-new Fotor 2.0 version was released. Fotor has evolved into an Advanced Photo Editor and Graphic Designer with many premium features and design materials.

What is the mission of Fotor?

“Our goal is to provide the best photo editing and graphic design applications for photographers around the world regardless of their experience or level of skill,” said Duan. For Fotor, the sky’s the limit!

Mr. Duan, CEO of Everimaging, Ltd., is not only the CEO and founder of Fotor, but is also an Honorary Professor of Computer Science at the University of Nottingham, UK, and also holds advanced degrees in image processing and color science. Everimaging, Ltd. has developed into a large company with a staff of 100 and 3000 square meters office in 2018.

The average age of the staff in Everimaging is below 30, characterized by their passion and creativity. The Fotor team’s goal is to empower all to be able to use photo editing and graphic design tools that Fotor provides – photo editing and design skills are optional!

Who are your typical customers, and what do you think is the main challenge that your product solves for them?

Our customers are KOL, Influencers, teachers, students, marketers, entrepreneurs, companies with marketing needs, almost everyone who needs to get a better look for their photos, posters, and work.

Our main challenge is to keep upgrading and outputting the latest designs and trends, meaning that consistency is the thing to work on in order to provide the best material on the market to our users.

How has COVID impacted your customers and business?

It hasn’t affected us – in fact, it empowered our business in a way because working in distance this new trend arises people’s needs for digital design and many other digital products.

Because when people stayed at home, they would likely devote more time to digital things, like making digital promo posters encouraging their customers to shop online so that people could keep social distance and be safe, posting the quarantine time, even for posting stay at home to raise people’s awareness, etc. Fotor keeps providing new template designs every week, sometimes even daily.
