CM2 Media officially became a corporation in 2013, but its roots stretch back to 2005 when it began as a freelance sole proprietorship. At the time, I was working for several large corporations, which provided valuable hands-on experience and supported further education. Alongside that, I was growing a freelance client base, primarily focusing on web design. Initially, I brought in subcontractors for graphic design work, and that’s when I realized this freelance business had real potential as a full-fledged operation. In 2012 I relocated to Oakville, Ontario, moving from Windsor, Ontario. That’s when we transitioned from Chyz Multimedia to what is now CM2 Media, officially incorporating in 2013. Over the years, the business has evolved significantly. Early on, we took on nearly any project to establish ourselves in a new location, but as we grew, we became more strategic and focused on our strengths. Today, CM2 Media is a full-service digital marketing agency with a dedicated team of full-time staff and a network of contractors we bring in as needed. Our core focus is on medium-sized businesses, and we pride ourselves on starting every project with a solid strategy. Our content strategy work varies depending on the size and needs of the client, and it’s typically part of a retainer agreement where hours are allocated to different aspects of the strategy. On the content side, we handle SEO, social media, and paid ads that support the overall strategy. This can include boosting posts, running campaigns to get people to read or watch more, and creating engaging content to drive results. We focus heavily on video content, which plays a major role in our strategies. This includes shooting testimonials, visiting client sites to capture footage of what they do, piecing together interviews, and covering events. From there, we create video posts, social media reels, and even supplement blogs with these videos. We also write blogs that align with keyword research tailored to the client’s goals, whether it’s a local or national focus. The social posts we create often incorporate these same keywords, ensuring consistency and impact. One of the unique aspects of our approach is that we demonstrate the effectiveness of our strategies through our own marketing efforts. Many of our cold leads come from people discovering us on Google or seeing our work on social media. This means actively reaching out to communities, following, commenting, liking, and sharing posts to create meaningful connections and increase visibility for the client’s brand. At the core of our social media strategy is video content. Faces are crucial, whether it’s employees, client testimonials, or key leaders sharing important messages. The type of video content depends on the business, but we no longer create social media plans that exclude video. Algorithms may evolve, but one constant is that audiences want to see and connect with knowledgeable, authentic faces behind the products or services they’re considering. We produce a variety of videos for our clients, building a content library that can be used to create montages or short, impactful clips of 20 to 30 seconds.
