Hostinger vs BigRock – Why a Huge Performance Gap 2024

Mark Holden Written by:

It might seem like BigRock would be a good hosting solution if you’re in India, but when I compared it to Hostinger, I was very surprised.

Hostinger vs BigRock, who will give you your money’s worth and solid performance? After testing both hosts across different parameters (e.g., pricing, features, performance, and support), Hostinger beat BigRock in four out of five categories, earning the winning title of this comparison.

1. Plans and Pricing

Hostinger Offers Better Value for Your Money

Both Hostinger and BigRock offer pretty much the same diverse range of hosting solutions from shared hosting, WordPress hosting, and e-commerce hosting to cloud hosting and VPS. Hostinger additionally offers Minecraft server hosting.

BigRock may offer slightly cheaper shared hosting prices than Hostinger, but unlike BigRock, Hostinger offers more value-added features and freebies including a free SSL certificate for life as well as a free domain name with higher-tier plans. Hostinger also offers attractive promotional discounts.

BigRock Web Hosting
With Hostinger, you can choose to subscribe monthly (comes with setup fees), yearly, or for two or four-year terms. BigRock allows you to subscribe for one year, two years, three years, or even five or ten years. With both hosts, the longer the subscription, the cheaper it is per month.

Both hosts offer a 30-day money-back guarantee. Hostinger offers free website migration, whereas BigRock doesn’t.

Despite some similarities, Hostinger outshines BigRock by offering overall better value for money. That said, Hostinger wins the pricing challenge.

2. Features

Hostinger Offers More Value-Added Features

Hostinger offers three shared hosting packages for beginners and small websites. You can host from 1 to unlimited websites and you’ll get from 30 GB to 200 GB SSD storage, weekly/daily backups, custom control panel (hPanel), 1-click installer (100+ apps), LiteSpeed powered caching, SSH access, free website builder (for 1 month), free SSL certificate, free domain (with higher-value plans), and Github integration.

With BigRock’s four shared hosting packages, you get from 10 GB to unlimited disk space (traditional disk drives), 200 to unlimited email accounts, cPanel, Softaculous installer, and SSH access. You can also host from 1 to unlimited hosted websites.

As you can see, BigRock offers standard shared hosting plans as opposed to Hostinger’s feature-rich packages. The winner? Hostinger, hands down.

3. Performance

Hostinger Has Faster Loading Speeds

Hostinger has server locations in U.K., Brazil, U.S.A., Indonesia, Singapore, the Netherlands, and Lithuania. On the other hand, BigRock has servers in the U.S.A. and India only.

Hostinger offers Cloudflare CDN (places your website on a global network of cloud servers to boost its performance) with all its services. BigRock only offers it with its cloud hosting plans.

BigRock pre-activates Varnish Web Acceleration with all its services, which caches static and dynamic content (e.g. images, CSS, plain HTML, etc.) to speed up your page loading speeds.

Another performance-enhancing feature is the type of storage (SSD or HDD) used by web hosts. SSD disks perform much faster than traditional HDD drives. Hostinger uses SSD storage with all its services, but BigRock only uses it with VPS hosting.

I tested both hosts’ loading speeds from different locations around the world using Sucuri. Hostinger scored a perfect A+ with most server locations showing impressive loading speeds.

I was very impressed with Hostinger’s loading speeds around the world
When my colleague tested Hostinger for a period of three months, the results were excellent – in fact, Hostinger was the fastest shared host we tested. For more information, read our full Hostinger review.

Even though BigRock also scored an A+, not all servers showed promising numbers like Hostinger. The best loading speeds were mostly recorded from Asia and Europe while North and South America locations showed slower loading speeds.

For more detailed performance tests, see our in-depth BigRock review.

BigRock’s loading speeds were not as impressive
Before the trials, I genuinely thought Hostinger would easily outperform BigRock (as Hostinger is well-known for its impressive speed), but BigRock showed up as a strong rival. Nevertheless, it wasn’t quick enough to beat Hostinger in the performance contest.

4. Security

Hostinger Offers Multiple Levels of Security

Both Hostinger and BigRock use DDoS protection to secure their servers, but Hostinger applies it on multiple levels – Wanguard anti-DDoS traffic analyzer and intelligent firewall rules on switch level, BitNinja or Immunity360 (Web Application Firewall) on each server, and custom web server rules.

Both hosts’ servers run on CloudLinux OS which isolates each account on the server from other accounts on the same server securely to protect it against any unwanted external threats targeting the other accounts. At the same time it ensures the fair allocation of server resources among all accounts.

Hostinger includes free SSL certificates with all its services and plans, but BigRock offers SSL certificates as a paid add-on. There are other security add-ons provided by both hosts at checkout, such as SiteLock.

BigRock offers free weekly backups with its cloud hosting only. In contrast, Hostinger offers weekly backups with all its services and daily backups with certain packages.

Hostinger’s multi-layer security measures and the fact that it offers more security features than BigRock make it a more secure hosting option and the winner of this round.

5. Support

It’s Faster to Get Help from BigRock

Even though both Hostinger and BigRock have large and comprehensive knowledge base sections on their websites, Hostinger’s knowledge base is a little more organized and easier to browse.

Hostinger states that its customer support is available 24/7 through live chat and ticket support, but in reality, the chat isn’t always available. Even when it is, it can take some time to get connected to a chat representative. Unfortunately, getting help from Hostinger can be time-consuming.

Hostinger's live chat support

In contrast, you can contact BigRock’s customer support via phone, live chat, email, or ticket support. Similar to Hostinger, these communication channels remain accessible around the clock. However, unlike Hostinger, the live chat exhibits notably higher responsiveness.

BigRock's live chat support

Thanks to its highly responsive customer support team, BigRock beats Hostinger in this round.

Hostinger Knocks Out BigRock

In spite of some similarities between Hostinger and BigRock, Hostinger is still miles ahead of its competitor. Hostinger’s affordable shared hosting plans provide impeccable performance, value for money, and top-quality features. On the other hand, BigRock has better customer support.

That said, Hostinger is the clear winner of this Hostinger vs BigRock battle. It’s no surprise that it’s even made it to the top of our list of the best web hosting services.
