Embarking on a transformative journey in organizational dynamics, Holaspirit emerges as a pivotal platform, reshaping how companies structure their teams and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
In a recent interview with Philippe Pinault on
Website Planet, the visionary behind Holaspirit, we gained insights into the genesis of this groundbreaking tool. It all began in 2014 when Pinault, inspired by Tony Hsieh’s adoption of Holacracy at Zappos, decided to implement this innovative method for his company, Talkspirit.
The journey led to the development of Holaspirit in 2016, a platform that not only supports holacracy but also adapts to various methodologies, exemplifying Pinault’s commitment to empowering organizations. As we delve deeper, discover the platform’s key functionalities, from dynamic organizational charts to facilitating OKRs and meetings, all geared towards enhancing organizational agility and transparency.
Moreover, Holaspirit stands out with a global network of over 200 coaches and an experimental lab, allowing users to preview features, ensuring continuous relevance and anticipation of industry trends. In a landscape where organizations evolve like living species, Holaspirit envisions a future marked by DAOs (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations), leveraging blockchain for dynamic capital management, albeit facing legal constraints. Join us in exploring Holaspirit’s mission to unleash organizational potential through transparency, agility, and autonomy.
Please present Holaspirit to our audience.
Holaspirit is a platform that helps organizations bring structure, transparency, and agility to their teams. By clarifying roles and ways of working, Holaspirit fosters a culture of continuous improvement, initiative, and autonomy among employees, and improves the overall performance of the organization.
Our tool allows you to support any kind of methodology such as holacracy, sociocracy, shared governance, self-management, teal or any other form of agile methodology.
Please describe the story behind the company: What sparked the idea, and how has it evolved so far?
In 2014, I discovered Holacracy through the initiative of Tony Hsieh, CEO of Zappos, who announced he was implementing this method for his 1,400 employees Amazon subsidiary. Curious, I discovered behind this method another way of understanding, piloting, and developing a company. I decided to adopt it for my company Talkspirit.
Practicing a method requires a supporting tool. The only one available in 2015 didn’t suit us, so we developed our own solution. Many companies then had the choice between the tools developed by the Holacracy organization or ours, and that’s how the company got off the ground in 2016.
Since then, we greatly enhanced our tool to make it a complete platform in support of agile methods. Firstly, by making the platform more open and flexible to support other methods, but also by adding modules and apps to broaden the scope of possibilities. For example, the OKR application, which is not described in Holacracy, has aroused a great deal of interest among our customers as a way of promoting better alignment at the company level and between different teams.
Can you provide an overview of the platform’s key functionalities and how it addresses the specific needs of organizations?
Our platform’s key features are the following:
● Dynamic organizational chart: this helps organizations map who does what in the Organization.
● Roles and responsibilities: this allows you to clarify the responsibilities and accountabilities associated with each role. Anyone can participate in their evolution through an integrative decision process.
● Publications to better share agreements, standards, and routines at the team or company levels, and improve.
● OKRs (Objective and Key Results): this methodology is used to align your organization’s goal with those of your teams’
● Meetings: multiple templates help improve the efficiency of all your meetings, whether they’re tactical, governance, or even daily scrum meetings.
● Projects and tasks: this allows you to plan and track your team’s tasks and projects using Kanban and list views.
What is the mission of Holaspirit?
Our goal is to unleash organizations’ potential by supporting new ways to work. To achieve this, we provide companies with technologies that promote transparency, agility, and Autonomy.
What separates you from other similar websites/companies?
We have a network of +200 coaches worldwide; from Brazil to Canada and all over Europe. Their input is of great value and we are in this way always close to the market and able to foresee the trends and needs. As well we count on our experiment lab, where users are able to test features out before they are launched permanently. This allows us to offer features that are really useful to our users.
How do you envision the future of your industry?
Organizations can be compared to living species, constantly adapting to changes in their environment. The Internet, with its ability to network individuals and support instantaneous information sharing, has already enabled organizations to become veritable platforms of collective intelligence.
A possible evolution of organizations is what we call DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organizations), which is an accomplished form of power decentralization model, using blockchain as a trusted technology to support decision-making. This model would enable much more dynamic management of capital but nevertheless comes up against very strong constraints, particularly at the legal level.
