Stop Your Subscription
Some of you may want to keep your subscription for now, but stop it from auto-renewing in the future. That way, you can continue to use the services that you’ve paid for, but transition to another platform once that time has expired. So first, I’ll tell you how to stop your subscription from auto-renewing. Then, I’ll tell you how to cancel your current subscription, domain, and get a refund. If you know that you want to cancel your current plan outright, there’s no need to stop your subscription from auto renewing first. Go straight to How to Cancel Your Current Subscription, Domain, and Get a Refund to see how to do that. To stop your subscription from auto-renewing, log in like you usually do and Weebly will take you to your dashboard. Once there, click on the drop-down menu in the upper right, then click on ‘Account settings.’ Next, you’ll be taken to the page where you can manage your account. From here, simply click on ‘My Services’ then ‘Manage’ under ‘Subscription.’ Next, you’ll be taken to a page where it will say ‘Unsubscribe’ and you can convert your site to a free plan. Click ‘Continue’ in the upper right. That’s it! To unsubscribe from your domain subscription, you simply repeat this process, except this time, you’ll click ‘Manage’ under your Domain subscription. Pretty straightforward, no? But let’s say you want to cancel your current subscription. You’ve signed up, it’s not what you expected, you want to cancel your subscription, domain, and get your money back. Well, if it’s been less than 30 days since you’ve signed up, it’s easier than you think. Want to know how to do it?How to Cancel Your Current Subscription, Domain, and Get a Refund
Well, it’s pretty straightforward. You simply contact Weebly customer support. They do all of this manually from their end.
I know, I know… You’re thinking, “contacting support sounds painful.” The mere thought gives us flashbacks of being stuck on hold for hours only to be told we need to call another number. But there’s nothing to fear – Weebly’s support is quick and helpful, and no phone call is required. Unless you want to phone, which you can. But seriously, who wants to phone customer support?
Thankfully, you can also contact support by email or through chat. These options aren’t the easiest to access, so here’s a quick guide to get there.
From your Weebly dashboard, click ‘Support.”’
Once you’re on the Support page, scroll down to the very bottom and click on ‘Contact us.’
The following window will open. You can pretty much type anything into the box and the chatbot will offer up an article that might help.
Whatever pops up in response to your question, simply scroll down and click on ‘No, show me more.’
Scroll down again and click on ‘Contact support.’
After clicking on ‘Contact support,’ click on ‘View support options.’
You’ll then be taken to the below screen and, if chat is available, you’ll be given the option to click on ‘Chat now.’ Go ahead and click on that… Unless, you would rather email of course (that option is on the left).
And… voila!
You’ve finally arrived at Weebly’s online chat support! Simply type in that you would like to cancel your subscription, domain (if applicable), and get a refund (if it’s been less than 30 days) and someone from their team will be with you quickly.
Within moments of opening a chat with their support I was in touch with Renee.
Renee informed me that only customer support could cancel my current subscription, domain, and issue me a refund. She did all of this for me within seconds but added that it would take one to three business days for my card to be refunded for the purchase.
Once she had cancelled everything, I suddenly realized that I would still like to access my site’s content. So, I asked her if I could. This was her response:
So, once you cancel any paid services you have with Weebly, everything is simply transferred to their free plan. Perfect!
At this point, your paid subscription and domain are cancelled, and you still have a free account where you can publish your site on a free Weebly subdomain. Ask support to make sure that your site is reconnected to your free Weebly subdomain so that you can still edit, publish, or unpublish your site as you like.
If you’ve reverted to your free plan and reconnected to your free Weebly subdomain but would still like to unpublish your site so that people can no longer access it, it’s super easy…
How to Unpublish Your Weebly Site
From your dashboard click on ‘Edit site’ to enter your site editor. From there, click on ‘Settings’ at the top of the page, then scroll down and click on ‘Un-publish.’ A window will open asking if you’re sure you want to un-publish, click ‘Yes, un-publish.’ And… you’re done! Your site will no longer be visible online. Now that you’ve canceled your Weebly account, you might want to contemplate other options.
