Web Hosting Canada Offers Better Performance

Canadian Web Hosting promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee, but when I tested it using Uptime Robot over a period of 30 days, it showed an average actual uptime of 99.98%, which exceeded this guarantee.

Canadian Web Hosting only has servers in Canada and doesn’t offer any speed-boosting features, such as a CDN (places your website on a global network of servers to boost loading speeds), so I didn’t expect much. However, when I tested the loading speeds using Sucuri, I didn’t expect such a failure. The results were actually inconclusive, as most server locations failed to connect – resulting in an overall disappointing score of an F.

I moved on to the final stage, where I used GTmetrix to test the overall performance of my website hosted on Canadian Web Hosting. Again, I was disappointed to see it score a D at 67% – which reminded me of my high school history exam.

Moving on to the competitor. Web Hosting Canada also promises a 99.9% uptime guarantee. When I tested it with Uptime Robot over the same period of 30 days it showed an actual uptime of 99.917% which is less than its competitor, but it still exceeded its promise. This means that over 30 days, my website on Web Hosting Canada experienced slightly more downtime than with Canadian Web Hosting.

Unlike Canadian Web Hosting, all of Web Hosting Canada’s plans come with SSD storage, which performs much faster than the regular HDD storage and in return, reflects positively on the loading speed and overall performance of the website.

Like Canadian Web Hosting, Web Hosting Canada only has servers in Canada. However, it offers free a CDN with its WordPress hosting plans (even though I don’t use one when testing loading speeds, to get a fair evaluation).

That being said, I tested Web Hosting Canada’s loading speeds from different locations around the world using Sucuri. To my surprise, it scored an F and showed very slow loading speeds from most locations.

Last but not least, I tested Web Hosting Canada’s overall performance with GTmetrix and it scored a B at 88%. Even though it’s not the best score, it’s still much better than that of Canadian Web Hosting.

Even though Web Hosting Canada showed a slightly lower uptime than Canadian Web Hosting, and it showed slow loading speeds, its overall performance far exceeded that of Canadian Web Hosting, making it the clear winner in the performance round.

Both hosts’ customer support teams are available 24/7 via live chat, phone, email, and support ticket. With both hosts, I tried the live chat and the support ticket channels to check their responsiveness and see how helpful the support agents are.

With Canadian Web Hosting’s live chat, I received an instant reply and all my questions were answered. The reply to the support ticket came within an hour, which is also not bad. Both replies were detailed and helpful.
